icon4.gif  Wilwood Calipers road legal? Mon, 29 December 2003 00:23 Go to next message
Doing some searching i have found several comments about wilwood calipers not being able to be engineered in Australia as they 'apparantly' dont meet ADRs. Does anyone have any concrete reasons why? Or actually know if this is true/false. I have seen wilwood calipers on PRB clubmans and some other kit cars that can be road registed so i assume they must be able to be engineered for street use?

Thanks
Trza.

the reason why the fail is that they don't have dust shields on the pistons.

In Bill's case things might be a little different:

Vehicles built on specially constructed floorpan or chassis structures are referred to as individually constructed vehicles. Some extensively modified production vehicles are also classified as individually constructed vehicles. These vehicles must comply with current design and safety standards as well as meeting recognised standards for strength and controllability.

A vehicle will be classified as an individually constructed vehicle if it is:

* a vehicle with a specially constructed chassis (non production vehicle) or a manufactured replica chassis (and it goes on)

Mind you the above applies to NSW so QLD might be different again. However individually built vehicles are a little more flexible when it comes to mods.

They come with the Fraser kit, and are Triumph Herald, though are brand-new forged items. The discs also came with the kit, not sure what they are but they're BLOODY BIG.
