Oil light is coming on... (7M-GTE)

I was driving along and the oil light came on, so I pulled over, checked the oil, it's fine... shined a torch in the oil cap, and have good oil flow...
What do I need to do? Best to get a guage on it to make sure it's got oil pressure, could it be the sensor?
What do you guys think is going on?
Cheers
Paul

Could be a dodgy sender unit but put a pressure guage on it first or just hook up an aftermarket one somewhere permanatly.

you'd replace the idiot light sender switch with a sender that shows actual pressure.. the VDO pressure senders i have are all 1/8 NPT thread. the K motor idiot light sender was a smaller thread diameter, but very similar thread, so i just used a 1/8 NPT tap to open it up a bit

I just went and switched the car on and it didn't come up......
It could do with an oil and filter change, I don't think the mechanic flushed out the system when he did all the work on it so it's probably full of crap!
I am sure that's all that is needed *touch wood*

Don't know about the older Soarers, but the MKIII Soarers have both oil pressure and oil level warning lights. I had a faulty oil level sensor which kept giving me false warnings even though the oil was up to the full level. I swapped out the sensor for a know good one and no more warnings unless the oil is genuinely low.

next to the oil feed for the turbo on the block from memory... dont snap it off, did that on an m-eu and ended up discarding the motor (wasnt a hard choice with a free 5m-e to replace it)
