sanding heat cure paints back?

I've just painted my water pump pulley (thanks Dave), and it's come out a little lumpy (which wasn't suprising, considering the poor quality of undercoat I gave it)
now while I realise it's only a pulley, I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I'm wondering if you can sand back heat cured paints before they're been heat cured? it's thoroughly dried, but says it will cure under normal engine operating temps (which would be great, if it was in a car)

I prefer my food non paint-smelling
my driveway typically gets to around 70+ degrees on a hot day, so I might just leave it there

Stick it in direct sun on a hot day for at least 3hrs, that should do it.
I did that with my cam covers and it worked a treat.

yeah, did that today
was hot enough that I couldn't pick it up for more than a few seconds, so I think that would've done it

sand away.
paint requiring it be cured by heat requires a lot more then under hood temps or sitting in the sun at the equator.
i think the stuff on the can about curing is only about speeding up its drying process and is mostly advertising bs to lead you to believe that the paint is some how "baked" on and a better product then it really is.
