my last locker made a noise like that so i pulled the centre out to find the bolts that were holding the crownwheel to the carrier were all gone with the exception of one which was 1/2 the way out and hitting agains the spider gear carrier

it could however be just a bit of welding slag on the crownwheel gear who knows. worth pulling it out rather than risk having it explode and locking up the rears.

i was quoted $1400 drive in, slide out

but $800 was labour, apparently u have to cut off old mounts, reweld your ones off your old diff, change studs, and set pinion angle Confused

ummm from memory the hilux and corona leaf springs are 1000mm center to center, the pinion angle can be changed by wedges between the leaf spring and the diff that you can get from most v8 bogan "Performance" stores

The tailshaft will need to be shortened but you can redrill the flange on the diff to accept the stock t series yoke

the only issues would be overall width, conversion to 5 stud and brake cable/hose
