It would have been funnier to see the dog take a dump in the middle of the road.

Good on ya It's nice to see blokes owning up to doing dumb things like this. If my boyfriend (the owner of this nick) did that I'm sure he'd never tell the public cause he'd be to emarrassed.

I own a pretty crazy R/C car that i used to race a few years ago. I poured cash into that thing like there was no tomorrow (over 3G's) and i was reluctant to drive it anywhere but the track. However one day i REALLY had to run in my new motor before the meeting the next day and decided to do some laps up and down my street for the first time. However after around 30 laps up and down i gradually got some courage up to pull my finger flat on the trigger and see how quick i could get down my street. After one of our meetings with a speed trap thingy on the cars i knew what 90km/h looked like so i tried to see if i could better that down the slope of my street. So i drove it up the street until it was almost out of view then turned the thing around and fed in the throttle slowly (i cant plant it cause it breaks into wheelspin and hits gutters. The carbon fibre chassis doesn't like gutters ) Anyway, it got upto around 40ish and i planted my finger and smiled as i heard it wind out on the tallest pinion ratio i have. I got ready to quickly turn around to face the otherway just before it passed me at a crazy speed. However as i spun around to look down the street to where the car was headed, what was sitting in the middle of the road about to pounce on my car? A CAT! It must have heard the high-pitch screaming of the engine and was crouching in the middle of the road ready to pounce on my car. But obviously the car was travelling way too fast to stop in time and i managed to hit the breaks about 3 metres before it hit the cat at around, i would say 100km/h after the 3 metre break. I think it must have been a mixture of the cat jumping just before the car hit it and the fact that it was going 100km/h, but the cat flew around 5 metres in the air before landing in a heap on the ground. I ran up to it to see if it was still alive and was greated to a very grim sight. One of it's legs was hanging on by a bit of skin and the other three were broken. The cat was a stray cat that wondered the streets so it had no owner. I took it to the vet but he ended up putting it down after he realised it also had a fractured skull, broken tail, and it had lost about half it's blood within the 2K trip to the vet. I felt so bad that i decided that was the last time i would ever drive my R/C car on the street again! Even though i hate cats (they killed 2 of our ginuea pigs and one of our birds, all of which were in cages) I don't hate them that much, and it could have been somebodys pet or even a dog.
When you think of R/C cars you think of toys, but when you start buying or modifiying them to this extent, they can become serious weopons of destruction. I mean at the time it was just a little test for my toy car, but when i think about it now, a chunk of carbon-fibre and titanium travelling at around 100km/h down a public street, thats just dangerous and stupid.
André
(ps i was young and stupid and i have learnt from my mistakes. If only i had bought the car a year or so after i would have been old enough to realise the dangers in what i was doing.)

Yes thats the reason i decided to post my accident. So that others can learn from my stupid mistake. I wasn't going to post it because of the stupidity of what i had done and that i would make myself vulnerable to criticism. However i decided that i would rather cop abuse from a few people if it meant hopefully preventing this happening to anyone else. Hopefully now that people can see the damage a little R/C car can do, they will think twice before speeding through a suburb in their full size car.
