Went down to <insert name of company that does repairs, begins with a "P"> and asked about getting my cars exhaust flange gasket replaced. They quoted me $30 to do the job. I thought that wasn't too bad, but then they told me they'd need the car for most of the day, and that if they snapped the head off a bolt they'd need to take off the whole manifold, thus they'd have to go and find a gasket for that too. This seems like a big risk, especially since they'd want me to fork out over $150 if they do manage to snap the head off of a bolt!

What should I do? Just go for it and hope they don't try snapping off the head for extra $$'s? I'd rather not have to pay them that much for such a small problem.

Thanks

Chris

the bolts on exhausts can be REAL bitches sometimes. It's a slight risk, but sometimes it'll happen

Drown/ Soak/ Drench all the exhaust bolts and nuts with WD40 for a couple of days before you give it to anyone.

regards Chuck.
