Sporty pads will always be worth it.
I've gone from Bendex metal kings to Bendex Advance.. and, it sucks.

If it's just for general everyday driving, anything will be fine. If you plan on pushing the car, go for a performance option.

My advice is to never ever use pads less than Metal King - budget variety pads REALLY SUCK! And if you like to drive with a bit of pace at times, they can be a bloody hazard... Things like Bendix Advance, Bendix Standard, Bendix Premium and all those cheap arse Asian pads, I'd rather use pieces of cardboard!

yeah go for metal pads if you like swapping you disc every time you change your pads. I'd go for bendix performax.

I've heard green stuff is good, as a part road part track pad

Agree with most of the above; cheapo pads are a total waste of time. I have identical brakes in my MA61 and RA23, and the MA61 pulls up heaps better despite being a couple of hundred kg heavier. Why? I have decent pads in the MA61 (EBC Greenstuff) and shithouse pads in the RA23 (Bendix).
Pads really do make an enormous difference, so if you've gone to all the trouble of doing a brake conversion, don't ruin it with substandard pads. Greenstuff is awesome for heavy street and occasional track use.

I've been using greenstuff for a while, and they're generally pretty good - just don't believe the crap on the box about not making wheels dirty! That's utter garbage... I find they seem to work alright even after the disc is glowing quite brightly, something you SURE can't say for pads like performax! (I know, I've tried... and the result is some fascinating smells)
As for chewing up rotors, despite my treatment of brakes, both with metal and kevlar pads, I seem to find my rotors don't actually suffer that much damage - I have more trouble with warping than wear/scoring... Can't quite explain that one!

ive been running the bedix ultimates in my st184 for a while now, fairly nice blalance works pretty well when giving it some serious grief but still works ok around town.
on a side note my gf's aw11 seems not to stop as hard as id like.. i havent checked what pads are in it (she's only just got it) but im guessing they will be toyota factories... service wise it's never left the dealerships workshop.
bendix dont seem to make an ultimate for it just the metal kings.. any other suggestions on brake pads without spending too much.

norbie - how do you find the greenstuff for brake dust?
the stockies I have on are terrible, and I'm after something with less dust (although I'm not fussed by some)

I'm also looking at new pads... green stuff pads seem to be highly recommended. The pads I have atm seem to not like too much heavy braking (had them smoking big time after not too much thrashing).

In my experience Greenstuff pads are pretty good for dust. They're not dust-free but I've had far worse!
