1JZ Twin Dump Overboost Correction Tue, 30 December 2003 22:51 Go to next message
Well, I take back all the information about the overboosting on my 1JZGTE. What I said was wrong and incorrect. I've solved the problem.

Fuel Filter..

DON'T GET MONKEYS TO SERVICE YOUR CAR!

I got a service done awhile ago that included changing the fuel filter.

They put in the wrong filter (from a mk2 by the looks) and also hooked it up backwards!!

Seems over time the Walbro pump half collasped the filter element and blocked fuel. The engine was running lean causing EGT's to sky rocket causing the turbos to overspeed.

All I can say is I was wonderfully wrong!

I'll be putting it on the dyno soon to see what twin dumps, bar&plate cooler and 0.9bar does. WOOT

So was it the fuel filter that was causing your car to not run?

Yup, I'd say it collasped more and just didn't have fuel pessure for it to run. Lucky..

You should do what I do, and run no fuel filter at all! Shocked

Or even better, never ever send your pride and joy to a mechanic again. I wouldn't take the risk with mine.

Norbie, when I took out my Walbro you should have seen the shit in the filter on the bottom... holy shatnaz! I need to goto PetroJet and get another filter! I'll show you next time you are down.

Is there any way to run a strainer type filter on your in tank pumps? Something like a 100 micron one?

Sounds good mate.

So you would recommend the twin dump pipe upgrade to people who are after 250rwkw or less now?

i'm interested to see your results, my twin dump pipes are going on soon, and running a very similar set up (except more boost from CT9 steel ex. wheels) and A340E transmission..

good luck!

Now that is a good idea! i dont trust anyone sence i had an auto fitted without loctite on the drive plate bolts Sad

recently i trusted a well known race suspension place to fit my lower controll arm bushes (as i dont yet have a press) crawled under it the other day and noticed split pin missing from the RH lower baljoint! it only takes one little thing to cause a major fuck-up

jzz30: How much did the exhaust wheel upgrade cost???? I've blown one of my ct12a's and I'm putting another one on but I'd like to put steel exh. wheels on as well. Are they hard to come by?? What about spool up time is that the same?? Compressor upgrade?? Grrrrrr. I'm keeping the ct12's because I like the minimal spool up time etc.
