Thanks for your PM RiGo, email sent
Any way a grey import is a car that is 15+ years old so it doesnt need to officially be complied. in my state it only needs things like:
- a new petrol filler cap ( for unleaded only)
- child restraint harnesses in the rear
- rear selt belts replaced with a retractable sort
- side intrusion bars in front doors
- side mirrors replaced with flat glass
all pretty simple and if you can get ya hands on the right people the work can be done quite cheaply. and as the cars dont need a compliance plate to be bought, the cost of the car comes right down. a good page that explains it all and has a nice stock list is www.yahoomotorsport.com
so any way i was looking for an older saorer, anything from '86 to '88 with a manual box and a 1GGTE or 7MGTE engine.
also i have looked at things like old mazda familias, toyota chasers, series 4 RX7s and all sorts. i would like a car for road use, not motorsport.
so if any one can help it would be appreciated

I stumbled across this dealer...budget prices, and cars already here! Also with links for Yahoo Auctions Japan.

John Verban (YahooMotorSport) seems alright. A mate was thinking of buying a CRX of him, and John was upfront and honest about what needed to be fixed and the condition of the car.

alternatively you can do it yourself. It takes around 3 months.
Its a lot easier than it sounds.
Find a trusty Jap exporter on the web, speak with dotars and speak with a your local customs agency. they will explain everything. Be sure to request heaps of pictures from the exporter
DO NOT PAY SOMEONE TO DO IT ITS EASY
i brought my AW11 GZE over myself and it arrived on a truck christmas eve 2003!!! what a present!!!
YOU WILL SAVE THOUSANDS!!!!!
BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
