Wouldnt you use gearbox bolts. Or is it the type of engine stand that you have that requires different bolts.

my gearbox and 4ac are still in the car, and won't be out for 2 or so weeks, and i need to prep the 4age to go into the car, but i am sure they wouldn't be long enough anyway,

I'll check the alternator bolts

Don't worry about /8ths. They will be metric. They should be 10mm, but could be 12. 11mm is an odd size for a bolt (does exist). If you look at your average spanner set it has 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 19 mm sizes as these aree head sizes for commonly used bolts. Thred size is establised by the holes you drill to tap and by memory 11mm and the others that have the head sizes that are not on the spanner list are not drilled with a straight sized drill, they could be a numbered or lettered drill.

M motors are 12mm (early to 4 maybe 5m) and 10mm after that for example.

If your engine holes pass right through just get something to fit through and use nuts. Couldn't recommend Bunnings bolts though. the only ones I've seen there aren't graded, they are just macine screws. Personally wouldn't trust them.

I went to bunnings and they didnt have the correct thread.
I went to a proper bolt store and got mine..
From memory they are:
M12 bolts (metric)
~100mm long or however long you need them, use washers if they are too long
and the thread pitch was 1.25 im pretty sure..

yep, they are metric 12 x 1.25

you will most likely need to buy from a specialist fittings shop, as the standard (common) thread for a 12mm bolt is 1.5mm, not 1.25 Crying or Very Sad

cheers
Phil
