For a cam regrind expect around $80/90 dollars for a set of extractors expect around $250/280. crow cams do lumpier ones, but they are a lot more expensive than getting yours reground, you can check on crow cams web site for all thier different grinds
I have just rebuilt a 4y Performance Auto Engineering in wangara did all the regrinding for me including the head work I can recomend them. you can get extractors at most exhaust and muffler places.
Dont forget a decent gasket set and while you have the motor disassembled, rings/ balance and some good head work.

What sort of power could be expected after the mods?

stage 3 with stock springs, stage 4 needs new springs.
i have stage 4 (camtech 609)

Thanks for the info, I would also like to know how much power could be gained after these mods?

Power output depends on so many factors it would be hard to guess a figure without knowing everything. I recently built a stroked and bored 3K, only to have the owner kill it in under 500KMs through detonation. I was aiming for around 140BHP, but never got the chance to throw it on the dyno for obvious reasons. The build consisted of; clearanced and bored block to suit 4K crank and rods, and Honda pistons, owner's cam of unknown size (a sticking point in thew build, believe me!!!), ported bigport head, 5K head gasket, twin 40mm Webbers and headers, electronic ignition, ...
I still have a brand new inlet manifold to suit twin Webbers if you decide to change the induction too?!?

Assuming everything else is standard, I'd say around 100BHPish which would be around 70RWHP. Electronic ignition is easy, especially considering I've also got a dizzy I'll sell! Join the Old Corollas Yahoo Group, or ask "oldcorollas" here on Toymods - he'll have a better idea on these matters of power out of K series motors!

_555_ wrote on Sat, 03 January 2004 01:58 | CLG: What power figures would a 3K with worked cams, extractors and a full 1.5 or 2 inch exhaust with 2 inch resonator and straight through muffler be capable of?
Also is electronic ignition hard to do on a 3K?
Thanks for the advice BTW.

for electronic ignition, just get a Jaycar HEI kit. they work wonders.
as for power, the 1300 class race boys get around 140-150hp from a 1300 3K, ie bored 3-4mm, oversize valves, 300+ deg cams, twin webers, tuned exhaust etc.... but their powerband is usually about 6000-9000rpm, with buggerall below that. the TOSCO manual on my page http://www.materials.unsw.edu.au/~sford describes what is needed to reach this goal, and has cam and porting specs etc.
my current build, which is a 4K, 3K bigport head, 1mmOS pistons, camtech 609 cam, dual valvesprings, much exhaust porting, valve unshrouding and CC shaping, 10.2:1 CR, home made tuned extractors, home made 2" exhaust (2 resonators and reverse flow muffler=quiet), jaycar HEI, weber 34DMS carb etc etc....
it currently has peak torque of about 105Nm@4600rpm, and peak power of about 100-105hp@8000rpm.
basically with good ideas and sensible mods, you might be able to get about 110-120Nm from the 1.3L, or 100-110Nm from 1.2L. to do this, you have to ditch the single carb setup, and either go for the EFI manifolds from 4KE/7KE, or twin weber style manifolds (and EFI TB's would be lovely )
i'm abotu to EFI mine, and am expecting to have a flatter torque curve with around 115-120Nm peak. power doesn't really worry me, but the powerband will be
from 4000-8000+.
it should be relatively easy to get around 100hp from a street motor.. but more than that it gets exponenetially harder and more expensive.

Cheers for all the advice guys, I never knew that the 3K was capable of anything past 60HP, but hey you learn something new everyday.
