i've got a 4age head here to reassemble - and it actually has a new set of factory stem seals with it. only my engine manual is at home! so i'm wondering if anyone knows whether the brown seals go on the intake, the black on the exhaust? (or is it the other way around?)
much easier with the aftermarket kits as the seals are all the same type....
anyone know for sure?

i honestly don't know abotu your seals, but Viton is usually brown or orange, and normal rubber seals are black.
the viton has higher temp capabilities (at least with O-rings)
so, based on that, i would be using the brown ones on the exhuast, and the black ones on the intakes.
if in doubt, call a bearing shop
btw, i use silicon, viton and normal o-rings allthe time at uni

thanks guys.
"normal" aftermarket ones are all black. from what i've found out the brown ones do go on the inlet side.
