WTB: Mk2 Supra alloys Wed, 31 July 2002 13:40 Go to next message
This is just a feeler request - i cant buy JUST yet but soon

Anyone out there got a set ( full set preffered of all 5 wheels ) of Mk 2 supra alloys + Centres in VGC - Ie the style you see on the 84 supras ..

I think they are 14x6 or 14x7's

I want them for a ta22 ..

Theyt fit beautifully under the ta22's rear guards but not 100% on front guards.

If anyone has a set in their shed i may be able to test fit first it would be appreciated to clear up any doubt on clearance

coolz ..

main thing i need to check is the clearances for the front guards + strut towers .. I know they fit on fine on the back - got dads supra's 225's under there on those alloys without scrubbing Smile

looked good with the big fatties on the back compared to the 185's im running now Smile

Maybe we can do it quick this coming tuesday night - Only take 10 mins to whach the wheel off and on ?

WELL the 4 centers are perfect, the rims, well its up to u i can get hold of another set (pick and choose but more expensive) to a pretty much perfect set all round or mine which hav one with slight curb graze on one and the spare with a big curb cut, problem is i need them atm! Smile I'm umin' and arrin' about getting my new mags (after the repaint) on 12 months intrest free, tho if i move i wont be able to afford it so its up in the air atm, but if you do move back and still want em i'm sure i can work some thing out, incidently i was going to strip the clear coat then polish and repaint the black stripes on them so my sup would be in near perfect nic(form the out side!Smile) I'll see how things go keep in touch. as long as i had 4 DECENT wheels - no major grazes - id be happy - a spares a spare for a reason

if you have another 2 to replace the cut up ones - coolz - there would be no need to get them polished - as id have them done anyway ..

Any pics of said wheels would be appreciated .. Im interested at this stage

Stuart

PS are they 14x6's or 14 x7's ?

How much were they looking for the replacements ..

The spare just has to be straight - but i do want 4 decent wheels ont he car - as its being cleaned up for toyotanats hopefully

Anything under 400 is OK , otherwise ill just buy a new set of Minilites - they are only about 600 a set for what i want

If anyone by any chance has two centrecaps they want to sell me (say, two of your rims are damaged) let me know!!

BTW The Ma6x Supra rims are 14x7". There are some similar looking rims around in a 15x6" that came on L-type Supras in other parts of the world, and I think maybee Soarers in Australia.

That $110 per rim? Anyway, about the centrecaps, that would be GREAT. Really appreciate it. I've just emailed a guy in the US about some, but if I can get them from here instead it will be quicker, easier and hopefully a lot cheaper too Smile Let me know as soon as you find out a price - stefan@speedtoys.com

440 for a set + centres isnt too bad - its not too far over what id expect to pay for a decent set of 4..

I need to check out one place down south that had a already polished set for 400 - but im not sure if they are there anymore ..

Ill keep you posted Smile

hmms - ok

so just to clarify my muddled up brain ( late nights are bad )

he has 4 or 5 rims + centres - wants about 100 - 110 per rim less tyres - all are in good order ( no gashes in the alloy etc ) and they are in Mildura ...

Is this all correct ?

yep pretty much, 4 all pretty and and one ave spare at least 3 will have la mans a4's ave tread (one new tire) and the spare with a dunlop sports (btw the spare doesnt have a center cap)

4 of the mags (3 good one spare) are mine and the other one is from a wrecker, I'll grab the best one there not sure if it'll have a tire tho,

yep and in mildura, You'll have to give me a decent amount of warning if u do want them tho as i'll have to arrang to get my new mags instead! Smile

heh - youll have plenty of time Smile

i have to arrange a move to vic first - thats gunna take at least a month - and then ill need to build up the cash reserves again ( shouldnt take all that long ) to buy them ..

if i could get a price of around $450 for all 5 ( 4 decent wheels , one spare + 4 centres ) id be sweet on that .. Will give me a chance to to take the ones off dads supra and check clearances at the front .. They fit like a glove under the back Smile

Id try and meet you at least half way ( bendigoish ) to pick up - if not - ill make a trip up and back over a long weekend

Stuart

PS pics of wheels still would be cool if you have a chance Smile

That's a shame. Thanks for tying though. I've only ever had two centrecaps. For what it's worth, I paid $265 delivered for my set of 4 Supra rims out of the trading post. Came with 2x near new Bridgstone Eager 235/60/14s. Rims were in worse condition than I was led to believe, I spent ages cleaning them up then restored them by hand by stripping the clearcoat and sanding back the machined groves to a uniform plain metal. Lotta hard work. Had to get centrering rings made for two of them too ($55), as I later realised they had been bored out slighlty to fit on front Datsun hubs. Basically bought the tyres for the rims - the huge tyres are still sitting in the garage.

this is one reason i test fitted the mk 2 wheels on the back of my celica first - they needed to line up perfectly witht he hubs and so on for clearance though im yet to try them on the front ..

they have to have the certres imho to complete the look

re the preperation - my dads mk2 alloys are in pretty good shape - but they are starting to get tatty - no gouges - just the clearcoat getting old ... i wonder if getting them sandblasted and reclearcoated would bring them up

Probably be the way to go. Probably the way I shoudl have gone. I'm don't know much about sandblasting but I think I've heard of people beadblasting rims, whatever that means.

I might have a set for sale. My Supra was written off on the weekend and i'm not exactly sure what is happening but i might have another one soon. I could sell you my set which are highly polished and detailed(took 4hrs per wheel).

$450 for the set(4), 4 are highly polished as you can see on the site below and there is one plain but in great condition.

Email me, if your interested in a week or two. I'll leave it up to you.

Ahh craps - the Red one was written off ??

what a shame - i was just showing my dad it - he has a 84 like yours ( red as well ) but completely stock ( bar a exhaust system ) - original thruout and in very very good condition for a car of its age - and in need of a heart transplant ( 5me Auto in it )

How badly yours damaged , were any parts salvageable ( ie your nice motor and suspension gear ?)

Dads actually thinking of selling his eventually to get a ute - but thats down the track a bit - i just asked him .

I hope you get another one - but hang onto your wheels - if you get another they would look better on your next ma61 project then on my celica - though id be curious to see the wheels off the new aqquisition if they are in decent order ..

keep me posted on your progress !

might be an idea for me to buy dads if and when he sells it and turbo the bugger Wink

All up cost $12k on top of purchasing the car and i did lots of it myself. Most of that money is parts.

Motor is salvagable i think it didn't get busted unles down near the bell housing. Suspension maybe ok under that carnage.

One wheel is damaged, discovered last night. There's pics of the result in the general section.

I'm looking for another body so if your old man was interested in selling it let me know. I want a really stock nice paint one.

i had a chat to dad abot the supra briefly - hed be looking in the 8000 - 8500 range for his taking into account the condition of the body Bar one spot of rust in the tailgate ( tiny ) the body is straight - original - and as far as we can tell rust free. Its been protective coated below the doors and stuff from the factory to protect against stone chips - has never been touched in carparks - or involved in accidents .. needs a slight buff to bring it back to Shiny - hasnt been repainted - still the original paint.

he wants to sell it without roadworthy at that price

Interiors complete - bar the radio - which i removed on the weekend to see if i could fix it - no marks or tears - seats are in VG Shape ..

If you want ill take a heap of pics of it tomorrow - and have thenm available on my WWW over the next week or so

His hold up is trying to find a decent ute of similar value. He wants a late X series falcon ute ideally - but finding a decent one is hard ..

Anyway ill keep you posted - and show him your post to see if hes further interested
