ra40 parts into a ta23/ra23 how will it go Fri, 02 January 2004 07:05 Go to next message
I am rebuilding a ta23 and am missing a few parts like a dash pad and various other dash parts, console etc and was wondering how hard a ra40 complete dash would be to install as i have a complete ra40 here. Also the rear springs and diff, will that fit. Has anyone done this before or heard of it being done or would i be the first person stupid enough to attempt it. All feed back would be nice on this as i dont want to attempt something that just wont happen.

The RA40 was designed with very similar mechanicals to the RA23/28, so I would *guess* that yes, the diff and springs *should* fit, however, the interior was completely redesigned so you have no chance in heck to squeeze a RA40 dash into a RA23. The centre console could be made to fit but you will have to do something *clever/custom* for the mounting screws/bolts.
Good luck with it all mate.
Cheers,
Mitch.

The diff is wider for an RA40 compared to the earlier models, it may fit, however you may have bolt up differences. I also think the dash change over won't be the easiest conversion out there, but if you do it, keep lots of notes for everyone else that might like to try it?!!!

Ive started measuring it and the dash pad in the ra40 seems to be a about 8cms wider. Im gonna have to shorten the whole thing by 4cms each side but i am recovering it so it shouldnt matter to much. Apart from that it all seems to be a easier change over. Will it be hard to rewire the lights as i will just change the whole harness so the dash lines up.

i was thinking of doing a similar thing as i am kinda in the same situation!!! do have any idea if the looms (engine loom and the whole front of the car ie. lights and indicators) are the same from a ra23 to a ra40?

i think that the lights and indicatorsd would basically be the same but i am just gonna use the complete ra40 wiring as it will then fit the dash with no rewiring. ONly have to change the tail lights i think. But the dash itself is 8cms wider in the ra40 so i dont know how its gonna go yet.
