Hi, i was just seeing if other ppl's 1JZ does the same.
At startup my car revs at 2000rpm, now this cant be good for it when it is cold, is there anyway to overcome this?

Most new cars have a fast idle when they are warming up, but 2000rpm does seem a tad high

My 4AGE idles at 2000rpm for about a minute or so then gradually reduces to about 900 rpm as it warms up

yeah thats normal for the cold idle
and yeah i agrea its not good for a cold engine
it makes me chringe
also 80's cars went through a period of having bullshit high cold idles
astinas coronas, blah blahb
revved to atleas 2500 rpm easy
like i said it made me chringe
however they were carby cars so u could manually turn down the cold idle
i spose youd have to programm the computer wouldnt u to turn down the cold idel on yours ?

if you use good motor oil this should not be to much of a problem.
Use mobile one or somthing simaler and you avoid the risk of engine wear, If you block of you cold start valve you car wont idle when you first start it unless you hold your foot on the throtle
