Sure thing, go for it! We're putting one into a HZ ute (veeery slowly cos we never get near it..) and it'll work in fine. Only issue is the width of the engine between the commodore strut towers, but it has been done, and is quite possible. Go for it!

you're SO gonna need a remote oil filter - mine fouls on the chassis and yours is going to foul on the exhaust after it bypasses the engine mounts.
try earls adaptor part # 1177 ($52.25) and remote bracket part # 2177 ($60.50). these suit the 3/4in x 16 thread of the toyota.
other than that, PLEASE make up some custom headers. the stock ones suck....!

i wired one up the other day
dumb idiots sent the crown v8 ecu for a lexus v8 engine
the lexus v8 ecu is so hard to find
anyway what gbox are u plannin to run
make sure u get all the parts aswell
or even a front cut
lexus v8 has a funny section where tailshaft goes into gbox
your best bet is to goto a shop and look at the engine
y dont u want a vp or vr v8
i know theyre castr iron but heaps less hassle
and theyre easy to wire up
if u want to spend the money get the lexus
just remember u will need custom mounts for engine and gbox
tailshaft
radiator
alot of stuff u will come across as u do the conversion so be prepared for the price to blow out by 1000 to 2000 bucks

there a couple of reasons for not wanting late model holden 8
weight (the Lexus should be about the same weight a the six)
different (everyone is using the holden
price (at around $2000 for a front cut its not a bad price

yer lexus is way to go
as long as u understand the costs and time involved
im hoping to put one in my hilux in afew months
what are yr plans
are u goin to pay someone to do most of the work
are you goin to run an auto or a manual gbox
you have to decide these things soon
if u go auto from lexus then its easier
if u go manual then u need belhousing and u might want to find a lexus v8 not a crown v8
as the lexus v8 with a manual i think is less hassles with the electricals not having an auto gbox
if u use the lexus v8 auto then u need special tailshaft as they have big rubber thingy bolted to back of gbox where orig tailshaft goes like a damper
if u go crown v8 then u have ti wire the auto ecu up aswell
so u need a half cut
if u get a crown v8 and go manual then the ecu will prob be in limp mode due to the auto not being there
there are afew small issues with these engines
most are easily fixable

The crown 1uz runs fine in limp mode with a manual trans and no auto ecu hooked up, spits out a few codes but seems ok.

but it's a cast iron slug with one cam and pushrods!!!! hardly an 'interesting' conversion...slow revving, undersquare POS.
the only reason the 304s were sold here (based on the 308 with revised internals) is that we're the only country stupid enough to take them off GM-USA's hands.
like the LS1 Gen 3 and 4L80E tranny...shocking engine compared to the Gen 7 GM-USA currently uses...more at home behind a light truck than a passenger vehicle.
$6k for a 308? i'll pass thanks. i could get a 2JZGTE for that much.

Sorry guys,
The 304 was made by Holden Australia with Group A touring car racing in mind - the idea was to bring the capacity under 5 litres to be competitive with weight rules etc. - and the little turbo rockets from Ford and Nissan still kicked their butts.
Gimme technology any day!

a TO4 on a 5.0L isn't big.
it's like fitting a CT9 to a 4AGZE....
a TO4 is more suited to a 4.0L engine, like 250 xflows, 1UZFEs, 253 V8s, 13B rotaries....

Actually the US hasn't even got a production version of the Gen4. All of the GM passenger cars use a Gen3 still.

And before you mention the Corvette LS6 engine it is still a Gen3.
