TA22 Owners ! Sat, 03 January 2004 16:14 Go to next message
After upgrading the headlights and playing with the indicator switch to change between Hi/Low beam something puzzled me:

Is the lever supposed to be pulled toward or away from you to engage the highbeam?

On my '74 TA22 in the forward position it is in low-beam, however I think this maybe wrong because to use the 'flash' feature to high it is not possible without actually turning them on fully.

Whilist in the high-beam position (closest to me) I can pull the lever a little toward me again which messes with the high/low again. Which makes be think that the most rearward position for the lever is actually for low beam, and you can just pull it a bit to 'flash' the high-beams. Then push the lever foward for full high beam.

Does this make sense? is the former example I gave the way its supposed to be? The car was rebuilt before I got it, so I believe the wiring may have beem messes up a wee bit.

If no sense can be made of this then someone tell me what their standard lights switching pattern is.

Cheers, Jacob

normal operation i think would be to have the middle position as low beam. then pull toward you to 'flash high beam', or push forward to have 'high beam on'

I wasn't saying his idea was wrong btw, if anyone made that assumption. I was just pointing out how my logic was probably the same as his (oldcorollas), and it is logic that I used to realise mine was stuffed Very Happy
