Anyone had to replace Oil cooler hose on 4AGE?

My corolla is leaking oil pretty badly from oil cooler hose closest to union pipe near oil filter. The cooler hose has braiding type section where it is clamped, with rubber covering the majority of the braiding but not where it is clamped. Is that rubber or plastic just insulation? I'll try tightening it up, but has anyone had to replace this due to leaking. It's leaking near the braiding and seems to be all frayed and shitty. Are they expensive? Would there be a non genuine part - or would I have to go to crummy toyota?
Thanks again

You can replace that hose with some high temperature hose from your local hose shop, about $5/m. I think it is 3/8". And replace the hose clamp too.

You reckon that I'd be good enough, heat protection wise etc. And good time for oil change. Thanks for the idea

I changed mine on my old AE82 myself, easy to do. Pull the old hoses out, place them next to the new hose, cut to same length, refit. The rubber cover is just a bit of foam hose, probably just for protection against rubbing. Check/change your oil while you are all messy, then off to car lovers to hit it with the pressure cleaner. I hate oily engine bays.

Leon - spot on, it was 3/8ths. All fixed. Took old one down to hose shop and they cut to same length. Got new hose clamps - grand total of $12. Thanks for your help Leon and Daniel. Easy fix, I thought when I saw a fairly large oil leak that it may have been an engine seal - glad it wasn't. BTW Toyota didn't have one, seems to be they don't seem to recognise cars anymore than 10 years old for most parts!
