hello again.

i figured that seeing as i'm asking questions i might as well ask a couple.

my 4ag runs mega mega rich. i use about 10 litres of fuel for every 70 km. and when i put a piece of white paper to the tip of the exhaust with the car idling, after about 30 seconds there were heaps of little black dots on it and it stank of fuel Crying or Very Sad .

i can smell fuel coming out of the exhaust all the time now, and i blows a fair bit of black smoke.

the motor has excellent compression on all cylinders and blows absolutely no blue smoke, but a heap Shocked of black.

is there a way that i could lean my mixtures out somehow?

without screwing with the computer? Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

any advice would be very much appreciated cos i'm about to go bankrupt just paying for fuel Smiley $$ .

also--could running really really rich be the reason for a really bad hesitation every time i change gears?

(more on this problem here-- http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=msg&t h=26427&start=0&rid=2713&S=ae3d9e445ec 5464a9399d5c47cc1c8fa)

thanks heaps for all your help Rolling

==================cheers, roman===============================

if your car has a computer then u shouldnt have to TUNE it lean

theres something wrong
fix the problem

im not familiar with 4A engines
so start off with simple things like unplugged MAF sensor (or whatever it has), blocked air filter etc

Air leak between manifold & MAP sensor? or faulty AFM
Cold start switch/injector?
Blocked fuel filter?
Leaking injectors?
Fuel pressure regulator?
Computer?
Oxygen sensor?

Just to name a few. GoodLuck

thanks for all the ideas guys,

well, its really starting to piss me off. the other day i found out that mum decided to clean the garage, (and lose one of my spare injectors in the process! Mad )

so i couldnt replace the injectors, seeing as i only have 3 spare ones now.

i did however replace the fuel pressure reg, fuel return solenoid thingy, and map sensor, plugs

i also replaced all the vaccuum line with new line, and ive been running another computer as well, and its still fucking up on me..

the fuel filters been done 6 months ago, but i'm stuck for ideas so i might do that too..

does this sound to anyone like an igniter problem?? cos igniters for the 4ag are pricey little bastards and i'll only get one as a last resort..

COULD THIS IN ANY WAY BE RELATED TO THE CAR GETTING HEAPS OF PRESSURE BUILDUP IN THE CRANKCASE?? EVERY TIME I OPEN THE OIL FILLER CAP THERES GASES ABSOLUTELY SHOOTING OUT..

anyways, any other ideas would be welcome. Very Happy

otherwise i'm about to crack the shits and drive the thing into a brick wall

cheers, roman

well if there is pressure in the crank case, all is not right, check you're PCV valve (will be on the end of the line from the top of the crank case to the plenum chamber), its obviously blocked, give it a clean and see how you go.

I got the same prob in my 4age 100 kilowatt engine. When it idles when cold you cant see the black smoke but the ground is covered with black shit cos dumper exhaust.

When i seen my brother full go hard in it up and down my street balck smoke is visble! but when driving normal no punching or flat foot its all cool.

Been told to do the test thing to find out the prob with the computer and shit cost you liek 60 or so bucks just for the test just been lazy to get around to it Laughing

by the way theres some FEUL Leakage on the injector rack not like its leaking leaking see it dribbling i replaced all the rubber rings n shit just some feul stains on the rack that normal?
