Well you've come to the right place, there are dozens of 1G RWD celicas, I am just finishing mine, as for car, go for the 77 RA28, much, much automobile and it has the same enginebay as the '23's. It's easy as hell to drop in a 1GGTE.

An RA65 ??

Nahh - too McWedges

anyway - i have a MA61 if i want something to mod from that yearage ..
Plus they are more " sporty" by a long shot

a 1ggte in a ta22 would be a rocketship - lots less weighty than an ra65 , an ra28 on the otherhand has the whole mini mustang thing going - and its ubercool when tweaked - Just look at teenz's new car..

Except that it won't fit...

You need at least a TA23.

True. And with that time/effort/money, you could've fitted a 3S-GTE. Wink

GA28 Celica... Hmmmmmm nice twin turbo mill inside the sexiest celica shape EVER... i think i can get to like that!

as much as i like the 65 coupes, id have to say the 28 is the best option for the 1ggte hehe. Nice and light and sexy, wat more do u want?

Really ??

Cause im actually tossing up whether to drop in a 1g-gte or 3s-gte in my ta22

ive hear the 3s-gte will be more fiddly and require more work ??

heard the 1g-gte conversion is more simple ??

It would be more simple, if you didn't have to move the firewall to make room for the 1G!

FYI the TA23/RA23/RA28 has a much longer engine bay, which has enough room for a 1G.

I think the TA22 bay is too small for the 1G, if it is any smaller than my Ra28 then good luck, there's no room left as it is.

Hoon, the xA23 has a lot less weight than an RA28... A 1G-GTE in one of them would be the best option.

Manipulate, there's a heap of work required for a 3S swap (there was a great post the other day about the whole process), but moving the firewall introduces its own headaches...

Plus you have to think about weight distribution. I don't think the xA22 chassis will take that well to a 6 cylinder out the front...

ok ill put my soft spot for a ga28 down to outright sex appeal instead of logic then Razz

still lighter than ra65 i presume?

besides, theres a degree of "customability" and flexibility for when you try to make everything fit thats inherent in the 70s designed chassis Rolling

cheers

what you mean the ra28 is much heavier?....
mine was only listed as 30kg heavier than a 22!
the 23 has to weigh more than a 22 surely....

By the way 1ggte ra28's rule!!!!!!!

Cheers

I'll have to second that. 1GGTE RA28's kick ass. You can afford to loose chasis rigidity for pure class...
