all i know is people call it a side draft weber i'd like to know what you would exactly call it as its like two webers but in one as its got two butterfly's and two 45mm intakes but its in the one body so what is the proper name for one of these?
and don't worry you don't need to tell me to clean the filters it has new filters on it now.

if you have aq good look there will be a product code stamped on the casting somewhere, but if it is a twin throat sidedraft with 45mm throat it will be a 45DCOE

sounds like your running a single 45mm weber setup like me - cept mines on a 2Tb ..
wish i could get close to 11kw out of my motor - its lurking there but so BADLY needs its hotter camshaft back in ..
aiming for about 100hp at the rears when tuned in..

i just don't like calling it a single weber ok it has one single body but two 45mm intakes and two butterflys in it.
and may i say it HAD 111kw at the flywheel in the state its in now it would be about 80Kw thats why i so want it tunned by a profesional who knows what he is doing as i hate the idea of driving around knowing it could go so much quicker if only it was tunned right.

Yeah i've been told by many mechanics to never go to ultratune. But the worst thing about my situation is i can't blame the loss of power in my engine on anyone but myself. i guess when your young an just got a car and can't even drive it yet what else are you to do but play around with everything under the bonnet except what i don't understand is so many people have modified engines with webers yet no one can tell me where to get it tunned ?????

theres a guy in girraween i thinkthats like the uber weber freak - Rod try uses him to tune carbs i believe - and you see with tinas car he does a bloody good job ..
youd probably pay that bit extra for the service ..
A guess would be have a look for "british" type performance shops , since most of the ponny performance cars from the old school section run on webers ( ie triumphs , escorts , some mini's )

note - theres a "kid" in zoom magizine - latest issue - hes not 20yo yet hes driving about in a fully modified and ricered GTS-T nissan Skyline
Hes a full time student - so how the hell can he afford that sort of car ?? the insurance alone would be 4K plus a year alone ..

DHLA or DHLB are the codes for the dellorto version of a sidedraught, its basically the same as a weber sidie... infact they are made in the same factory in italy
i think IDA webers are the downdraught type
Back to the thread question you have a single sidedraught setup.. even though there is phsically two throats/mainjets etc a twin set up has two bodys and 4 throats

if you have 1 carb., you've got one carb. it's as simple as that. isn't "45 DCOE/x" stamped on its top? what number is the "x"?

they made lots of little changes over the years so it could be like a 45dcoe mark13 or something... it may even be a batch number

AHAHAHAHHHAAA!!!!
so that would mean i have twin sidedraught webers then? maybe in my lunch break ill pop the hood and check the numbers on my webers.... but there is definietely 4 inlet throats, and two main bodies, so it has to be twin sidedraughts, right?
all of this is on my 18GRU.... incidentaly.. does anyone know what the difference is with the 18RG -> 18RGU??
i heard the RGU is slower... i wanna make it faster!
BTW gin51e.... try ralliquip for tuning webers... he will dyno tune them and re-jet them for max-power or whatever you want from your power curve

Witzl - the U means it was an emissions controlled 18rg head - slightly down on power on the "true" 18RG by about 10 horsepower i believe ..
if shes a stock item - you might have twin solexes - not webers .. the carbys are a little different in design.
If you want to make sure they are webers - two ways to easily idenitfy them is the obvious WEBER badging on tyhem - and also a brass wing nut on the top ..
If you want a pic of a 45MM weber ( new style ) follow my WWW in my profile - i have pics there of my weber setup ( single , not duel )

they are definetly webers!! i rekon they should've been on the engine from factory.. but thats only my thoughts (crappy solex)
Rallyquip is in pendle hill... its $130 to get on the dyno w/air fuel mixture meter, to check how she is goes thru the entire rev range, and adjust to suit. $60 p/hour after that to do further adjustments, re-jetting etc + parts costs (eg, jets, hoses, o-rings etc)
exzpensive but these guys REALLY know their sh!t apparently when it comes to webers. Im heading over there as soon as ive get a new clutch and some tyres.
BTW dude... are you going on the gong cruise this sunday? cos if you are ill catch up with you there.... would like to see whats done to your car!

dude.... you dont have to be a financial member to go for a cruise with the toymods boys!! im not a TRUE member yet and im going! although ui am hoping to become a member on the day.... you should come dude!
well yeah these dudes are pretty good, when i told them i had an RA28 celica, they instantly asked who put the webers on the 18RGU? i thought that was pretty classy them knowing that stuff.
it sux for me... i REALLY have to get my webers properly tuned, its VERY hard to do twin webers... so im told (not hard to see why... balancing 4 separate jets to mix the same amount of air/fuel.... geeez!)

re timing - rod try mentioned with my setup ( 2tb, race camshaft, single 45mm weber ) i would have to look at weighting and regraphing the distributer to overcome the timing issues + run it at around 10 - 15deg advanced ..
Since the webers dont have a vac advance on them - you have to counter this with dizzy work to get best benifits i believe..
another cost to add to the list - but thats what he did with tinas porncar ..
Its either that or getitng an elecrtonic dizzy ( about 400 bux aftermarket )

i dunno about timing... when i talked to the dude... he said they run it on the dyno, call you up and explain whats going on at what point etc etc... then they go from there and fix her up
