Ride height Wed, 07 January 2004 14:24 Go to next message
It seems to me that any car that is lowered to any sort of decent height has real troubles scraping over speed humps, up steep driveways, over funny gutters etc. I was just wondering why nobody puts in like, hydraulic adjustable or something.

Of course, I'm sure there is a perfectly reasonable answer, like, they are stupid expensive... or they are illegal.

i'm not sure if airbag or hydraulic is illegal in vic but in qld they have been outlawed. i think they both have advantages over conventional springs, in that ride hight can be adjusted while on the road.
i was at a hot rod and kustom day last week, a company had a trade stand selling airbag stuff, not sure on price, but by the time you by on board compressors, pumps, switches, helper springs, valves etc, the price will not be cheap.
i must admit it pretty cool stuff, nothing better than seeing a 64 impala, or a 50 merc dropped on it's bum. Very Happy

Yeah, it would be cool if you could set your ride hight to like, 180 when going over speed humps, then drop it down to 105 (so it's still legal) when just driving about.

Apparently some busses in Victoria have airbag adjustables?? Or something like that anyway.

And yeah, I figured they wouldn't be cheap. But how cool! Very Happy
