4AGE 20V and 6 speed g/box Wed, 07 January 2004 21:29 Go to next message
What 6 speed manual box comes fitted to Ae111 20V setup. I have been told that this box is LSD. Is this true??? Any idea where I can get information on this box. I believe this 20V + 6 speed setup has rev limit on 1st and 6th gear to protect syncros in box. Is this true??? Am I going to have problems fitting AE92 mechanical speedo drive into this box??? What is the shift pattern on this box and will I have to change the AE92 shifter and cable setup (5 speed) to the one supplied with the front cut???

C60(or was it a G6?), first found in the AE101 BZ touring.

No not all of are LSD, depends what model it came out of and what options were asked for when bought new.

I think some one spun something there...

Yes, they aren't interchangeable from memory.... also top mount won't fit without mod's

Using the standard setup, you can get All the forward gears, but not reverse. You can modify it so you can get it, but its a pain in the butt! Use all the cables and shifter from the cut, and you'll have no problems.

Any way of identifying a LSD box from a std box. Also what modifications are required to the topmount of box and any suggestions on what to do to get the speedo operating.

turn one of the wheel on the car (when the cars tyres off the ground) and then both should turn the same way, however if its anything like the mr2 turbo lsd, box very hard to tell as its dosnt appear to be when u spin one of the wheels...

I meant was there any way to tell the difference between LSD and std by looking at them as the box is still in the frontcut.

Nope

Have to strengthen the plate that comes on the box, cut off the top of it, build it up to the correct height with some thick plate. Then using your existing one that bolts to the car (round upper with a plate weld to it), you have to cut both ends off, cut a slit and weld this to the bottom section that has been prepared as described above. If in Sydney, I can do the mod $200, but the engine needs to be in the car so I can measure the distances.

I can also have a look at the speedo and tell you what it is interchangeable with, otherwise you'll have to find the corresponding wire in the back of you speedo and wire the 3 electrical outputs directly from the box to the speedo

1. There are two part # for the Blacktop 20v 6speed transaxle (C160).
a. 30300 1A 250 - without LSD
b. 30300 1A 260 - LSD
These # are on the Transxles bell housing near the stater - ink printed sticker that will fade.

2. From the vehicle ID plate the LSD box is designated as C160 - 12C.
12C = LSD

ok... is the 6 speed out of the ae111 called c60? or c160?
I was always thought it was the c60, since the c60 was based on the c50 series.

the transaxel code listed above is from a Levin BZ-R, I have a photo of the plate somewhere. The AE111 6-speed code is C160.
