Thoughts on Mountain Cruise?

hey people,
just got back to my place on the Sunshine Coast and I am very hot. About to jump in the pool
Anyway, what did people think? How can we make these things better? I thought it was good fun but had a lack of organisation, basically because not many people knew where we were going
For the next one, I think we should either have one leader that knows where they are going and follow them all the time or have directions posted of some of the streets to go on, not just the town we are heading for.
Besides that it was great fun! Just wish my Corona was registered so I could drive it instead of my stinky Corolla
Next cruise is to a Willowbank Test and Tune Night! As soon as my car is finished
P.S I think at one stage or another everyone with a good engine or engine conversion should open their bonnet for people to take piccies.
Later
Chris

i agree phil, i'm partly to blame - but it youz folks volunteered me to lead out
much more detailed organisation and prep work required for next outing:
very detailed maps for everybody (e.g. download & read map before day)
travel times on maps;
info on maps for stops, food, toilets, petrol, other?;
no sheep/panic/wtf stops, just keep driving;
everybody has to learn to spread out (makes the twistie bits more fun);
someone does detailed reccie of break/lunch/photo venues;
a decent lunch/food/bbq area instead of the footpath;
activities for lunch/photo spots other than standing around getting sun-burnt;
a going home route (sorry about that);
after driving activities (e.g. food/drink in airconditioning or fix/trash someones car);
...
this a good start?

Sorry I disappeared guys. Missed that u-turn after the u-turn and ended up heading to Ipswich with Mark. Hope he found his way back ok. Decided to pike out before I fell asleep, finished work at 7am and due to the hot weather was short on sleep. I felt a bit out of place with a stock car and lack of knowledge in the modding department. Felt like a guy with a Dell turning up to modders heaven. I should have my stereo in for next time - money permitting. Next time I'll make sure I'm going the same place everyone else is. Maybe I will have figured out how to strap my video camera to the headrest for the DVD cruise highlights from a group A perspective.
Sorry again for bailing. Next time I'll get the night before off from work.
Gary.

Everyone buy a UHF radio if you don't have one already (they're not expensive). This sort of thing always happens on cruises when you don't have a reliable method of communication. Trust me I've been on plenty!

You can get cheap hand helds or even a mobile radio which can be fitted with a cig lighter plug and then use a magnetic antenna.

Yeah you can get the handhelds at Dick Smith, Jaycar etc. They don't have a big range but plenty for a line of cars.
