they put it up against the corrolla sportivo in fast fours.
the clio beat it on all counts except interior space, but the clio felt better inside.
i wanna see a clio sport vs 206 gti shootout.

On the track, the Clio gives the Celica a good run for its money!

well I got a price on one and it was almost $37K on the road so I dont think they will be giving away so you have to worry about betraying any toyota offerings ..

Except its not exactly in the same league in regards to speed or style. Yes its fun, but I'd be damned if I'd take it over an S15 200SX.

Actually, its no more than 100kg, even less depending on the spec of the Celica, but you get the idea.

Drift properly...methinks you need some good suspension, an LSD and a racetrack with REAL big runoff areas

Me? Drift?
As fun as it is, I only do that on dirt. It's too dangerous on the street. But I can show you how fast a 20 year old car can corner.

ah, the original hot hatch goes to the first golf gti's thank you very much
1600cc efi inline 4's... twodoor.. 0-100 just under 9 seconds... not bad for a 1960's car...
then the puegot 205gti's and the renault 5 turbo... but wasn't the r5t a mid mount rear drive... or maybe i'm thinking of the proper clio sport which wasn't released in aus with the mid mount 3.5 v6

Not coming back any time soon. Canberra's got better roads anyway... Lots of high speed on/off ramps....

hehe I really upset a guy in his new Clio Sport at the lights. He had no chance. He looked very pissed off! Once I slowed down to watch him go past. He must have thought he had something real special.

Yeah You are probably right, but a big deal is made about it's so called straight line speed.
whats a 6mge anyway bro

Straight 6, 3.0 ltr twin cam from japan. Was used in Toyota crowns and the like in 87 or so. Heaps of grunt and the easiest engine swap for a MK2 supra.

Thats what I thought but couldn't find any evidence to confirm. Of course the dream renault would be either an A110 alpine Gordini.

"This new car was the A110 Berlinette Tour de France, named after a successful run with the A108 in the 1962 event. Starting with a 956cc engine of 51bhp, the same chassis and body developed with relatively minor changes over the years to the stage where, by 1974, the little car was handling 1800cc engines developing 180bhp+: with a competition weight for the car of around 12.5cwt(620Kg), performance was very high!"

Or a R8 or R10 Gordini. 1135cc, 11000rpm redline, get them down to 570kgs in full trim

My first car was an R10 and my dad used to rally gordinis. I had a side draft delorto carb on it that was nearly as big as the rest of the motor. It used to fly until I blew it up running on av gas.

I learnt to drive in an R10 and was first car, twin webbers though on 1600. I know where there is a Gordidni fully restored under cloth covers and two brand new R8 shells and enough new stock to build. Have offered lots for them but they won't part.
Got to love rear engines. If you can drive them you could just about drive anything.

why is it so hard to drive a rear engine mate ??
is it because of the balance of the car ?

The weight of the engine acting like a pendulum at the rear. Oversteer city. Lots of opposite lock and accelerator action. Backing off or braking at the wrong time brings the rear back around in a rapid way

the renault 5 turbo was mid engined rear wheel drive. The engine was also mounted north-south configuration and was mounted in front of the gear box. They were even intercooled but it seems a bit sketchy as the intercooler was also part of the inlet manifold and was very close to the engine. The exhaust manifold is awesome I wish I could show you the pics.
these would shit all over the golf Gti (although I still have respect for the gti)
Practically all they had in common with the N/A fwd and front engine renault 5 was the front bonnet.
