yes, that is one option om considering- mainly due to price- the 5me/mteu hybrid. basically whacking a mteu manifold on the side, a decent turbo (garrett T3 or something else a bit more ballsy), a big fat intercooler, a boost gauge and a decent exhaust and intake. maybe 200hp at the fly, as a goal? considering the 5m-e is roughly 130 hp, and the intercooled m-teu was about 160-170hp, but yes...
i'd need a nice metal tough headgasket too right?
i've pm'ed gianttomato re: his manifold, but no reply as of yet.
thanks y'all

oh, i know it will be far worse than a 2jz-ge. a stock 5m-te is reported to get about 93rwkw. so maybe intercooled and so on, who knows....
im basically using at as a learning experience- and plus its very, very cheap.
the 7mgte will come later

Man that looks like it just came from the factory. Wow, never seen one so clean, wish my old MA61 looked that good, might help if I washed it once in a while. Any way good luck with it all and I hope it kicks the 2J into its place with a 7M.
I will just keep putting around in my old claga, dreaming of an engine swap, one day it will happen one day.

has had the CD player installed, all little bits tightened and neatened up...

update:
just got a good old fashioned service, compression test etc.
the good news is the compression is fine.
the bad news is my clutch is fucked. im getting a heavy duty one put in. apparantly sometimes when the clutch has been shuddering you need to getyour flywheel machined- is it worth the few extra $$$ to get it lightened, considering ill probably do the 5me/mteu hybrid?
cheers guys

new pictures coming soon, as i've bought a whole set of new tyres, in preperation for losing my licence and my car being off the road. but yeah, they're bridgestone eagers with the old school white lettering
anyway, while i'm also looking at a 5m-ge (eventually 5m-gte) thing for the supra, i'm also going to fix up any little irregularites it has- such as the dash rip, interior squeaks and rattles, the big bling exhaust tip needs welding/replacing, i want a sports steering wheel, and the paintwork in spots needs redoing...
when thats all done, it'll be my perfect little baby
but yes.
has anyone had any experience with getting "dash welding" done?

they're just 225/60/14, i wanted 245/55/14 for the rears, but alas...
they were like $165 each or something, and i only needed three, as I got one when my oldest tyre balooned on me (at the greenvale meet, actually)
other than that, ive found them a lot better- no more understeer!

foglight rewiring done today- now that the car is off the road.
steam cleaning seats and interior tomorrow- and getting new gear boot made up, and vinyl welder will be called upon soon.
i went to the wreckers today, as i spotted a buggered ma70 with this steering wheel in it:
it was pretty wrecked, and needed re-uphostering, but that was okay as i wanted it done in blue/grey anyway.
i was thinking $20-$40, but no, he said i have to pay $130 for a fuct ma70 wheel....
dreamin' right?
anyway, new pics soon, and with any luck, a 7m-ge this weekend

well.... i was bodging around with the american tutorial, and was having no luck, and so after a few hours, i retired to the dinner table for my chicken. afterwards i did a search on here, and found your simple and short explanation of how to do it, and did it in 13 mins. i was pleased. thanks dude
but yeah- i figure now my car is off the road i can take the seats out and get everything all good
so roughly, how much does a very used ma70 wheel go for? what about a 7m-ge loom and ecu?

the damn yanks made the description well too hard.
cut one wire and extend another, simple as that!
i sat there for ages trying to figure it out the first time, but its actually really simple. 13 mins is about right
Something second hand is worth as much as you willing to pay.
But an aftermarket wheel can be had for that price.
on here 7m's float around for $200-$500
its all about timing and having the cash.

a few more updates:
since ive been off the road for nearly two weeks, ive had the seats and interior steam cleaned (seats look much better, carpet is still a bit stained) and have cleaned the vinyl all through the interior with maguires shit, and it's been attacked by this "ming" stuff as well, so it's looking pretty shmick at the moment. the foglights are rewired, and my exhaust tip no longer rattles like a jerk.
im going in to an interior place tomorrow to get a new gearboot made up, and the holes in my dash fixed.
i still have to re-glue a mudflap, get my stereo working again ( ), repaint and polish the mags and touch up some paint on the body and his recovery-rest will be complete. pictures soon.

well i now have some new pictures! whoopee!
here are the rewired slick foglights
and here are the steam cleaned seats (the drivers isnt that filthy, the camera is just gay, for some reason )
and heres the back of the seats, complete with new-and-improved non-saggy storage nets! i've used meguires shit and ming on the backs too, as well as the whole interior, ill get some pics when its back together. looks shmick, as i've said.
and i took my gearboot in today, $44 in good-quality black vinyl. pick it up monday, hopefully by then, ill have the money to get the dash-welding done, which will be good, the rip looks a bit dodgy, as small as it is.
then ill repaint the mags, and this little tidy session is nearly done
next, 7M time
