Im pulling out my 4age in my mr2 and im not sure how to undo the shifter cables? They sit on this bracket that i could take off but it's a bit of a tight spot.
Is there another way?

it is a little tight. there are flat metal plates holding the cables into their mount, simular to the ones that hold brake lines in. (the flat U shape bits).
find the edge on the plate and work it with some long nose pliers until it comes off and then pull the cable through the mount hole.
you have the cables off the gearbox linkages already?

Your a life saver feral
I was there last night thinking how the hell, cause i didn't want to break anything
Also, to pull the engine out do i have to disconnect the drive shafts? as i have the car on ramps .
And how do you lift the car up to get the engine out from underneath?

if you dont have a hoist or jack big enough just ask around 4 of your mates and pick the rear end up....

i had a block n tackle fixed to the roof above the car, i used it to lower the engine to the shed floor (which i had a tarp on the drag it out with), then lifted the body up with the block n tackle and dragged the engine out.
as for the drive shafts, i took mine right off the gearbox/axles before i dropped the engine. makes it a lot easier to work on and manouver the thing with-out them there.

Thanks peoples, you should be happy to know that i dropped the motor out tonight. Easy as.
Its just sitting on the hoist legs for now. I'll lift the car over and get it out tomorrow.

Hey, that sounds cool. I've never met anyone else with an aw11
It would be good to have a look at everyone elses cars too.
I'll need about a week or to though
