Batterys in the boot - victorian laws ?

heys - anyone have any details about what laws are for or against boot mounted batteries in victria
Pondering swapping mine to the boot - and using the space for a better induction system ( after seeing justens setup ! ) soon after the chip conversions done ..
Id like to use a smaller sealed type battery ( oddessy ) in the boot - and built a custom compartment for it one one side, a subwoofer on the other, and an amp at the same time .

Not sure about legality but you should enclose the battery in an airtight box and vent it to atmosphere, perhaps through a drain port in the boot floor.

Don't go odyssey... go optima. much better quality battery. And in terms of venting. Why would you? they are sealed batteries.

I'm sick of saying this In all states of Australia, a battery that is fitted in the boot/in the cabin must be in a PLASTIC box and it MUST be vented to the outside of the car!! This goes for ALL batteries even if they are the sealed type.
Also the PLASTIC box must be secured to the floor with appropriate fixings.
NO IF's, BUT's or MAYBEs THIS IS THE WAY IT HAS TO BE DONE!!!

I just keep it under the bonnet, saves all the arguments and confusion. On a serious note, here here to Cool1, thats what needs to be done because all batteries vent gas of which i have forgoten now, i think maybe it was hydrogen

actually fattony, the sealed battery types do not create hydrogen gas - but govt regulations do not recognise the difference in battery types, so they all must be fixed, boxed and vented

Any space onder a Gt4's bonnet is a good thing !
have a look next time you see one !
getting rid of the battery allows for better access to airr intake pickup areas - and also gives a shitload of room for relocating things like the fusebox , and catch can ..
with justens permission - ill post a pic of his engine bay VS mine - to show you what a difference removing the battery gives !
