icon5.gif  AW11 with a 4A-GE (20 Valve)?? Help Please! Thu, 15 January 2004 02:22 Go to next message
My Friend is currently driving a bog stock MR2(AW11). Not sure what motor came in these, but its still the original motor.

He is looking at dropping a 4A-GE 20 Valve motor in it. First of all he needs a few things.

1. WIRING DIAGRAM FOR COROLLA : I believe these are the original car for the 4A-GEs motors? Anyhow because he is putting this motor in the MR2, he needs this to chop up the loom.

2. WIRING DIAGRAM FOR MR2 (AW11): he also needs this for pretty much the same reason as no.1 (Cross reference between the to diagrams)

Has anybody else done this conversion that could offer a few pointers? Is it worth doing? any help appreciated.

Cheers,

Trev

All i can say is put a 4agze in it. The aw11 came out with it standard so it goes straight in no worries. And you dont have to worry about chopping up your wiring loom.
At the end of the day you can get it to go faster than a 20 valve too, that's only if you want forced induction though.

Im putting a 4agze into my car at the moment.

I would personally go the 4agze. Otherwise i'm sure one of the guys on here have done what you are after or at least know what to do.

Thanks heapes for the quick response guys.

Fatmr2, i think the issue is more with $$$. how much are 4AGZEs anyhow? However it does sound a little easyer rather than having to hack up a loom. DO you know anyplaces that sell them in VIC? or NSW that would ship one down to us?

midnight, Cheers mate lots of goodies on there.

Thanks T

Heres my mobile no if you find anything 0403434894. My freind has looked and could only find a half-cut. Not a engine. If you can find a 4AGZE in reasonable condition, please contact me.

Cheers

Trev

My half cut cost me 3k. For that i got engine, lsd box, wiring, breaks front and rear, engine lid ( supercharged one is different ) the whole lot.
And it bolts straight in.
Doesnt get any easier man.

Look in fast 4's, Hot 4's for places to buy the half cuts.
If you want they will sell you just the engine, box and wiring. It'll be cheaper.

unfortunatly i sold the spare s/c engine cover we had last week (not kidding - check the for sale section if you don't believe me)

The LSD box just bolted straight in?

The supercharged engine cover just bolted straight on?

Your car must be very different to mine.....

Im just putting the whole lot out of the half cut into my car?!

I think you have to move the latch for the new engine lid though?

Why would it be different?

What, So your saying it wont just bolt in?
What do you have to do to the mount?

I've been told it should go straight in by heaps of people?

it almost bolts in. there are web sites that will detail the minor mods you need to do to fit it inot a n/a car. ie slotting the gearbox top mount on the car & repositioning the engine cover catch.

you think that's a lot of work? try fitting a 3age with the n/a gearbox & grafting on the t-bar roof! (both things that i have done to my mr2)
