never actually seen stock ma61 rear speakers
but if they're anything like the fronts they'd be half reasonable for 20 year old speakers
i'll stick with the 7x10's though....

mine has the speaker grilles but when i looked there were no speakers in them

You're joking, right?
I took mine out and tested in through an active crossover at various frequencies and volumes. It sounded terrible at any setting. Unless you're reallky hankewring for one to go with your stock dash speakers and stock headunit.... it will clip before some half decent coaxs, and not go as low either.

about a 5-6 in speaker that lives under the glove box, if you stick your head up inside the passenger foot well area, you should be able to see it through the grille.
very lame speaker indeed. supposedly toyota's idea of a sub to match the rest of the audiophile system

My Ra6x had one (3 speakers). I think all a6x do. You know on the passenger side how there is a grill below the tweeter grill? that's the sub

The stock speakers are 4x6".
I had a pair in the rear of my Supra. They were still going ok, but removed them as soon as I started upgrading the stereo - dead weight - they can't handle much power.
However if you actually want to keep the stock look, but still have a decent stereo, some of the bigger car audio companys actually produce aftermarket 4x6"s that can handle a bit of juice.

ive got pioneer 4x6" in the rear of my RA60, sounds pretty good
but even the rears sound alright in my supra- ie the speakers draven is selling- but i only have a tape deck so my crappy dubbed tapes sound a bit turdish
