anyone wired up a 2TGEU ? Sat, 03 August 2002 10:13 Go to next message
and running the factory computer?

i need to know - the dizzy - there are two wires that come out of it a black with orange stripe and a black - which *should* go to the coil.

which wire goes where and does the 2TGEU run a ballast resistor?

(i have a 2T and want to put the 2TGEU dizzy in place of the *lovely* points setup (as you do)

okay.

You don't need ballast resistor if you fit the 2TGEU magnetic setup, which works with an ignitor which should be strapped to your coil.
Different ignitors only differ by the dwell as far as I'm aware, so maybe a 4AGE would work if you don't have one.

Anyways. There is a yellow, and a red wire coming from the dizzy on mine (2TGEU), these correspond with the yellow and red wire coming from the ignitor.

Oh, sorry I misread, you're talking about the coil wiring.. well, I took mine apart and redid the wires, they were crappy coroded metal of some sort.... maybe oxidised copper, couldn't solder to it. Only 2 wires to unsolder and resolder, very easy.

Orange with Black stripe is normally a Power colour, and should go to +ve of coil. Other wire (black) should go to negative side.

Lemme know if you have any other queries.

thanks karl, am going to give it a go this arvo and see what happens.....yer, B is + on the coil, C is - on the coil.

I didn't think the 2TGEU actually used a ignitor i thought thats what one of the two kidney like looking things was inside the dizzy housing? i know one is a hall effect pickup, not sure of the other.

Yeah, I've seen some 2TGEU dizzys with 2 black boxes, and some with only 1.

Maybe the 2nd one is an ignitor... check if there are 2 wires going from the magnetic pickup assembly to the other one. These are probably yellow and red.
