wtd: engine bay wiring diagram for TA23 and or RA28 Fri, 16 January 2004 13:04 Go to next message
any idea where i can get this? haynes manuals for early celicas are pretty rare second hand over here and i can't really justify buying a new one at the moment.

my main problem is the black with yellow stripe wire coming out either side of the engine bay with a plug on it the same as the indicator plugs, what's it for? i've also got a couple of problems with what goes to the coil and alternator. i swapped my loom in from my RA28 so it should've all just matched up but a couple of wires came loose.

for my coil i've got 3 wires going in, 1 to the negative terminal and 2 to the positive. where should these come from? and for the alternator i've just got one wire coming off that goes to the battery (amongst other things), there was a second wire but it ended up going nowhere.

the engines a 3 litre V6 out of an early capri Embarassed but most of the looms only got minor changes, nothing changed behind the 3 plugs behind the front guards.

and before anyone asks i'm using the ford boat anchor cause its what i've got, i've got plans for a 1uz-fe conversion down the track but i crashed the car that was meant to be the funds for that and i don't want a 3-4 year project so i'll get it on the road for a couple of years till i can afford to do the conversion properly.

cheers
Matt

Black with yellow stripe AFAIK is igniton power... most of them should be quite thick gauge wire.

Ign coil is quite easy to rig up.. but it depends of what type of ign your using (points, HEI, TAI, etc).

HEI?, TAI?, you could lose me soon........ it's a normal distributor with points, one HT lead coming from the coil. i think i'm going to have to buy a haynes manual Sad

and the black with yellow stripe wires are both quite thin and go to plugs the same as the indicator plugs, just one wire in so whatever they go to must earth through the car.

cheers
