MA60 supra dash into RA65.... possible? Sun, 18 January 2004 22:31 Go to next message
I actually want the tacho off the MA60 because I think that might solve my speedo and tacho problem as its also a 6 cyl like the 1ggte...

I have the 1g in the RA65 (prev 4 cyl 2.4L) in there and the revs and the speedo read a lil low (bout 10 ks slower than it should be)...

what do you guys think ?

any help would be appreciated !

I doubt it, as the connectors and wiring are completely different.

I was looking at going the other way to get away from the digital dash

You can try, but just get a converter from Grant at Sixworks

Cheers

I'm pretty sure. The converter that I got was to boost the signal, but they have a new one to suit your application. Their address is on the forums here somewhere

You don't need to drive there, just get Grant to send you the unit and wire it up yourself! It's a piece of piss, there are only 4 wires.

I've got a MA61 analog dash which would be more likely to slot straight in...

Wanna sell it ?

I hate the digital dash. Is it from a Yank car or an imported one ?

Let me know, and I'll swap a digital one if you wish

PM me

Bit of a thread hijack, but Aussie delivered MA61's had a digi dash, and US/Japan MA61's had an analog dash.

The US and Japan had both analog and digital dashes, depending on model and trim spec.

Yes, it's for sale, I don't want the hassle of changing the wiring which you would have to do to make it fit. It came from a Singapore 5MGE Mk2 Supra.

It should in theory bolt straight into the RA65 dash, and the plugs wouldn't need to be changed only the tacho would be calibrated for a six cylinder and the oil is a gauge rather than a dummy light...

No, the digital dash has totally different wiring. The analog dash should be the same yes.

Yeah, I looked into this a while ago and converting from digital to analog or vice-versa is more trouble than it's worth. I don't like my digi dash but I've decided to live with it. But hey, I'm just lazy! Razz

So Norbie/Frank, the Analog MA61 dash is essentially a 6 cyl version of the RA60 dash ? i.e. it doesn't plug in ?

Les, we have hijacked your thread for our personal gain. Sorry Smile

HAHAHA Laughing

any info is good to me - keep on hijacking

So JCMF... if i find a MA61 dash, I can hook it "straight up" (meaning plugs will be fine) to an RA65 and the readings will be right. Please confirm __________ Very Happy

As far as I can tell, the MA61 analog dash is a copy of the RA65/RA60 dash only with a different tacho. At a bare minimum the speedo will work, but I can't see Toyota changing everything over just because the tacho is calibrated for a 6.

guys,

just a suggestion...this little operation will cost you half an hour of time, why dont you burrow the unit off JCMF pay for the postage put it in... if it works then buy it if it dosnt pay for postage and send it back

then you may have your problem solved, either way nobody will lose

Michael has already PM'ed me about it and is waiting for me to take pictures of it, but if he decides the wiring is too hard, by all means, I'll send it over for a test fit.

I don't, but there's nothing special about the fuel sender... you can use one from a more common Toyota, eg RA60 Celica.

Norbie,

The reason I ask is im using a digi dash in my Aus spec sprinter and the analog fuel sender doesnt send the right signal.

But apparently the MA61 digi dash fuel senders work!? Do the MA61's use the same fuel sender irrelevant of what dash is used or?!
