I seriously doubt the rear springs are 560Lb considering even a very stiff front spring would be 400Lb
maybe you should take some measurements and work out the exact rate with an online calculator
Edit: and just to add, if the rears are 560Lb that would make the fronts 850Lb if it was set up with the correct front to rear ratio.... not even the V8 supercars run that high a rate, and it would make a 1000Kg car virtually undriveable
need some more imfo. you know what insert is in the strut? are they stock sprinter struts bodys? how much are they shortened? are the inserts (dampners) ajustable? even if you could just take a measurement from say the bottom of the strut body to the top, where the threads end, thatd help. be definately good to know what brakes were on there.
IRa11y Can you point me in the direction of a web site to calculate the spring rates?
I was just reading what was marked on the rear spring.
The struts are ae86 I think. When I put them on the car and took them off, I just swapped the front hubs over and they were standard AE86 brakes.
Not sure what insert is in them but they are adjustable a bit like Koni's where you can turn a flat tip at the top to make it more or less firm.
I took some measurements.
the rear springs are 29cm high.
From the bottom of the strut to:
bottom of thread is 32cm
top of thread is 43cm
top of coilover is 63cm
Hope it helps a bit.
I will try to find out more info, but as I said, they came with the car.
