X-members and 1G-GTE in a TA23

I've got a few questions about doing this swap.
Some people have got an RA23 xmember and then used a mid-sump 1G. Others have got a front sump 1G and used the TA xmember.
CAn you guys give me an idea why to go either route? Just the facts ($ and effort - no bitching please!)
If I get a half cut, what model(s) should I be chasing?
Any recommendations for suppliers (honest, cheap) as it is 17 years since I last did a significant mod to my car?
cheers
Ray

You can go either way it suits you really. With a front sump and TA23 x-member you will have to modify the front of the sump to make room for the sway bar.
If you use a RA23 x-member you will have to bash with a hammer or cut and shut the rearmost bump of the sump to clear the steering linkage. Either way, while you can use the steel fabricated RHS GTE engine mount bracket, you will have to cut off the RHS x-member bracket and re-mount it closer to the engine, unless you can find the magical GZE steel engine mount brackets. Don't forget to try and preserve the GTE engine tilt or you will have exhaust to steering box clearance issues.
Look at Supra and Soarer half cuts for your GTE engine, pay maybe between $800 to $1200. Can't help you with suppliers sorry, did my buying thru reputable Toymods forum members! (Dare I use these words in the same sentence )
Cheers,
Mitch.
