RA60 20-R to 22-R conversion questions

Hi Guys
I'm just about to take delivery of a RA60 Celica, auto with a 20-R engine.
This engine is tired and in need of rebuilding, while I'm waiting to save up to do that (or upgrade to a better engine) I've been give a 22-R manual from a 93 hilux.
I'm wondering if the engine will bolt straight in, are the engine mounts the same and what things to expect not to fit properly??
also I want to stay with the automatic transmission so i don't know if there are going to be any incompatibilites there.
Any help or suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Phil

are you sure this is a 20r ? or do you mean 21r ?
the 20r has different inlet ports so you cant use the same carburettor and im not 100% sure but i think it has different exhaust ports as well so you might want to check that becuase extractors can get expensive
if it is a 21r then you have no problems it is a dead easy direct swap the carb will fit and the exhaust is the same
p.s. if you do have the 20r, do you want to sell that after it is taken out

The 22R should be a straight bolt in because IIRC the USA had this engine in its standard RA60 (not RA65) Celica's. Depending on the series of 22R engine, early or late (you want early) a 20R head will bolt on to one of these, and that flows heaps better than the 22R head and ups your compression a few points as well too, bonus !.
Maybe that's why TDFSM would like to buy it !
Cheers,
Mitch.

Its definetly a 20-R (helped my mate install a fuel pump and power steering pump) so got pretty close to it for a while there.
the 22-R is complete so i'll wont be changing carby over most likely, and its from a 93 hilux so its not new by any means, but its not EFI so i'm hoping that it will go more easily.
What would be the idea solution is fixing the problems with the 20-R and not have to nick my fathers engine at all, but time will tell.
I've got until march to get the thing blue slipped so I might be able to pull it off before then.
has anyone had any experience pulling down a 20-R, from what I know the only thing wrong with it is it needs new rings.
was going to just strip it down that far and not take the cam out, make my life a bit easier.
after ringing around most places want $1800+ to rebuild it and i have to pull it out and install it. $2500 if they do it.
If i was going to spend that much i'd go for a 1jz or 2jz front cut.
again, any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

maybe so, but will your front cut engine have new pistons/rings/bearings/gaskets etc? and be balanced? and have fresh faces cut on valves/seats? yadda yadda...
sure, you'll get a short warranty on the f/c motor but its condition will be 'as-is' not freshly rebuilt.
plus you've then got all the traum/costs & time of doing a foriegn (to that model anyway) transplant. There's been numbers of between $5K and $10K for total costs of serious transplants thrown around in various discussions.
