Go Fast Paseo??

Got a call from the brother-in-law today. His mate has a Paseo (yes I can see you all shaking your heads) and wants to know how to get some more ponies under the bonnet.
Luckily the solution is $8000 to put towards doing this.
All I can think of is dropping a 4E-FTE into it. Yes these have more power but going backwards in capacity.
So what I am thining is using the bottom end of the 5E and using everything else from the 4E to make a 1.5L turbo engine. Seeing this should still come in under $8000 then he could go a larger turbo and aftermarket computer etc etc to work this engine up.
Do the 4E pistons fit inside the 5E to keep the lower compression?
Is this feasable?
Is there any other way to make good power in this form?
Is there another engine or engine/gearbox combo that would fit within budget to give this thing a kick in the pants?
I have heard of 4A engines being used but have little info on how they are mounted into the paseo.

didnt the paseo come turbo in japan? i think they were called a cynos or something maybe check what motor they use - most probably a boltin replacement

From what I can find the cynos only came in 4E-FE or 5E-FE variants, no turbo. Just a convertible version of the Paseo.
Anyone else have any good info or know of any conversion that has been done to these engines?

4E-FTE, best bet for ease of installation.
Plus these things can give plenty of ponies

I remember something about a paseo with a 3sgte?
For some reason theres a bell going of in my head.
Ill try and locate it for you. I might not find it thou, its been a long time.

You might want to look towards Xracing. They are fitting some sort of turbo V6 engine into their Paseo.

I'd imagine a 4EFTE or even 4AGZE swap would be somewhat easier than a 3S or V6 swap, but if your mate has got the $, well go ballistic I guess!
