Need to find a conversion option for my next project, an 1981 toyota hilux trayback. at the moment i am in the process of doing the bodywork and interior etc etc and very shortly i am going to be doing an engine conversion.
I am asking around to see what ppl know about possibilites for the hilux and where i go about starting. ur ideas would be helpful.
Regards,
Craig

Firstly,
Is it 2WD or 4WD?
Also what engine/gearbox combo does it currently have?
Do you want a revvy or a torquey engine?

g'day mate
where abouts in qld are you, if your utes a 91 model it would have the 22R with the 5 spd in it, i have a '90model and the general idea is to get rid of the original drive train and replace it with a 1ggte (turbocharged) or 1ggze (supercharged) 4 the 2wd. Replacing the motor from a old skool supra should do the job. im lookin into doing the same conversion to my ute soon
Cheers
Dale

Hey its a 2wd 1981 model old school.
I am on the Gold Coast!!
I was thinking the 1ggte with a bigger single turbo instead of the twins.
