a single wheel bearing?

recently i bought new wheel bearings for my sprinter (front end)

its cost 22 bucks a side, and included:

inner bearing and cone,

outer bearing and cone

grease seal

took me an afternoon to change one of them, and saved me 180 bucks in parts and labor

here is what i did,

went to mechanic, had heart attack when he said they cost 100 bucks a side (plus 100 labor a side)

called a bearing shop, who said they didnt have a listing for my AE86

called REPCO and said "i need bearings for my car, yeah, ill pick em up tomorrow (for 35 bucks a side), just out of curiosity, what is the part number"

called bearing shop again, told them the part number, went in and picked them up the next day.

look under bearing in the white pages, and get creative

Yah, hit your local bearing shop (I use Bearing Wholesalers, and always talk to the most helpful Brian.... Evil or Very Mad ), take a look at your old bearing and get the number off of it, or else take it in there with you. Also, bearing shops are great for a whole range of stuff like O rings and seals too, heck you can even buy toolchests and towbar fittings, to name but a few Evil or Very Mad Oh, and always about half the price of repco etc. too Very Happy
