just from reading one of the other threads i was wondering how hard it would be to put two 13b's together to get a 4-rotor quad turbo!!!

The mazda le mans car has a quad rotor in it. The company 3 rotor imported a couple of them but for massive dollars!!! They are 700hp+ and reliable enough to run full noise for 24 hours! Due to rotaries being very hard to tune properly if two were joined together and they ran slightly different it would upset everything and harmonics may be an issue. If some guys are running 8's with 13B's why would you need 2???? Just build one full house and forget about it!

In theory... a 4 rotor can be built from 13B housings, centreplates and endplates with a new, custom eccentric shaft... and a new Crank Angle Sensor to run it... and new, custom manifolds.... and all the other new, custom stuff I'm forgetting...

This is another "gunna" spoken about in pubs and workshops worldwide. I'm gunna make a 4rotor out of those 13B bits in the corner one day.... It'll be fullllly siiiik maaate...

It would be more realistic to make a 20B (3 rotor) using this principle (with a 20B shaft and CAS) but then again why wouldn't you just by a 20B motor to begin with...

Or buy two 20B's and make a 40B Hex Rotor....

Quad-rotors tended to get a bit hot..... used to melt everything around the exhausts... bodywork, etc... a few of them had some decent fires from memory....

If you could get someone to make up the eccentric shaft to fit the four rotors then there is no reason why it couldn't be done. Just add 4 turbos, 4-2-1-2-4 exhaust with an 8' tip and an intercooler the size of a truck radiator and you would be the siiiiiiiiiikest. Just don't forget the neon, you've got nothing if you don't have the neon.

A hex-rotor engine has actually been built:

Neons or not, I'm pretty sure this engine would kick ass on anything any of us will ever own! Smile
