well to keep the speedo accurate you would need either 215/225/50/15. But I think those two are the minimum you can put on a 7" without looking too thin. So you can go much higher. I would think 235 won't be too much of a problem.
Hang on, isn't yours tubbed? I'd be going as wide as I could, you'd have enough room wouldn't you?

iv'e been told no more than 8 inch, providing correct offset, shortened diff and rolled guards!
otherwise i'd say 7 - 7.5 inch max.

I saw this thread once before on these forums and I think the consesus was that 225's are the widest you can go.
Depends on the year of the car as well, I think I believe the early model celicas had narrower (closer together) body rails. Then they changed to the wider body (RA23 style, wider guards) before they moved the body rails out.
If you have a celica with narrow body rails and the wider body/guards, then I think you can go bigger then 225's.
Correct me if I'm worng anyone, it's just something that I remember reading somewhere and have no idea about how accurate it is.

Well I had 225's on MA61 supra mags (not sure if they were 15's or 14's though) on my RA23... The susp was std but they fit no worries....
I think with the right offset and rolled guards that 245's could probably fit.... The easiest way to work it out is to take the car + rims to a tyre shop and try different sizes!

That might fit on an RA23, but TA22's have significantly less room back there.
