which gasket cement to use on manifold

hi folks,
i'm replacing (tonight) the intake/exhaust manifold on my 18RC after botching this operation during christmas (after fixing broken welds on the exhasut side)
i've got a plain-vanilla gasket from autobahn (protorque) as there's no performance options for this gasket apart from cutting your own metal version.
i've got a choice of:
Hylomar jointing compound (spraycan)
Proseal Copper XS hi-temp RTV silicon
to coat both sides of hte gasket
when i first built the motor, i use the red coloured hi-temp silicon on the manifolds and anything else that got pretty warm and none of them leaked.
what would you use?
(when i re-assembled the manifold in Dec, i didn't re-tighten the nuts after bolting it up - so it failed within a few days - i didn't read the instructions on the hymolar can...)
tia, charles.

Get some Permatex ultra blue or grey.
Use it all the time and never had a problem.

Yes Loctite Copper MAXX is excellent and can take the heat of turbo manifolds.

have ended up using the hi-temp copper/silicon stuff - partly so i can see if the gasket's got squish around every side.
turbo was left attached to manifold but wastegate was re-attached with the copper stuff on the manifold face, and exhaust putty where it joins the dump pipe.
i'll use the Hylomar on other important stuff like timing cover, thermostat housing, sump, etc where i can easily see if the face's have sealed all the way round.
is the loctite copper max a silicon-based stuff? or something solvent based? os something like their stud-lock compounds?
also, thanks for the advice.

i used hylomar on my head gasket...as my block after machining still wasnt perfect. It works really well at sealing any small humps and bumps in the surfaces

afaik, hylomar is great when you have well fitting machined surfaces, and is used in the aviation industry for this purpose..
i use the red silicon (whtever it's called). withstands the temps, doesn't burn out, and makes it easier to remove the gaskets later have not tried the copper one yet

hrm
I may have to try this
I've put the crushable metal gasket on the dump pipe flange of the 1jz, but it hasn't crushed all the way around for some reason.
