i need help my turbo is blowing a shit load of smoke when changing gears. I am wishing to replace it with a Ct26 from the 3L soarer. what would be involved in it. will i need to have an intercooler. Would the lag be much worse then the CT20. what would the estimated power out put be if i was to run stock boost and stock everything else(eg,internals, injectors,so on and so on. how much bigger is the CT26 then the CT 20.

I've got a custom manifold for sale its on the for sale forums.
This will hold the CT20-B. I find get around 20psi of boost at 4000rpm or so. Starts making boost around 2500 maybe even lower.
The CT20-B is no laggier than the stock CT20 really. In physical size though they are heaps bigger!

Do you have your crankcase ventilated? AS 3TGTE's get older, they start to breathe which is characterised by oil smoke on lift off. Make sure your rocker cover outlet is not blocked and open to the inlet air pipe or atmosphere (filter if so).
To fit a CT26 to your manifold, you'd have to have an adapter plate welded to your manifold, and fluid lines modified to accept the new turbo. You could also choose to use an aftermarket manifold like the one above. you'll need to consider an intercooler if you wish to raise the boost, but not necessary for under 10psi boost levels. lag would depend on the type of CT26 you get, everyone will be different, but remember, they are designed for bigger motors, but having said that, the original CT20 isn't going to show much difference!!! Power output with a CT26 would be around 175BHPish, given everything else is stock

Apparently you dont need an adapter plate to fit the 7MGTE CT26 turbo you just need to bore out the original manifold holes a little.

Correct, except its the exhaust housing holes that you need to elongate. Its been covered extensively on this forum a few times.
