yeah, 4ac you just get the little ryco plastic one, costs single figure $ amount. Should take about as many minutes to put in as $ cost (hopefully even less)

From memory you just need the right angle version of the standard cheapo plastic filter. If you can't find it or something, come over my place sometime and I'll show you how its done, should take all of 2 minutes.

Performance filters: These generally come with a sticker. This sticker causes people to wank excessively, and lose their load. The corrosponding loss of weight will increase performance.
Billet filters: Maaaaaate. You can polish it. Ful sik. Maaaaaaate.

I've heard that if u take the fuel filter out of the 4ac, you can up the boost to your fake BOV and run NOS straight into your Exhaust bipassing the engine.
Then again, what i just said could be a whole load of shit

no no! i think u might have an idea there thunderbird1.... my cousins vee kay has one of those fully sick bovs that vent to the exhaust and he reckons that with the 9" tacho makes it run 9s... so adding nitrous would make it 6seconds easy! :- :-

Well I can't tell you what fuel filter to get, but I can tell you the difference between those high performance large chromey ones and the piddly little standard ones.
In two words, bugger all. Only in applications where you need lots of fuel going to the carbies/injectors will it make close to a few hp difference, but even then, you are very unlikely to notice it when driving. My brother's rally car (A Ford Escort Mk 2, don't laugh, the Escort has a little bit of rallying pedigree ) uses a approx. 400ml capacity fuel filter only because the Dellortos are bastards to tune (though not as dastardly as Webers) and at 7000 revs you won't get enough fuel filtered through a little filter.
On my soon to be 1976 Celica (it's not even a twin-cam, but I need something cheap) rally car, I'm replumbing the whole fuel system and will put in a high flow (Ryco) fuel filter, but only because it's not really that expensive to get one anyway, and I'm putting in an electric fuel pump and two Solex carbies, which need slightly better fuel flow than the standard set up.
But for most (maybe all) street 1600cc engines, just grab a standard Ryco or similar brand fuel filter.

I can't see the design of the filter being really that able to be modded for performance, only the size, bit like a big surge tank or a big plenum. That said, my r31 skyline's fuel filter is BIGGER than the oil filter!!!!!! Its huuuuuge!!! metal case and all, its massive and weighs heaps. still only $12 to replace though. Just get a ryco one, its all you'd need. cheers, floody

would you be talking about an efi fuel filter on the r31? cos theyre different altogether i think... theyd need to filter down to a finer degree for the injectors id assume? on carbs, itss whatever fitss throught the hole
