	| info on the 20valve | Sun, 25 January 2004 08:16 | | |
	| Hey I currently own a ae82 sedan rolla and want to dump a 20valve silver or black top into it with a 6 speed gear box, I would really like a 4agze but thatll cost to much on insurance so ill stick with the 20valve anyways I was wondering as standard with no mods maybe a pod filter and exctractors but thats it, will i be happy with the performance for the money, what do u think i would be runnin down the 1/4 mile and also wat type of cars am i looking at giving a good run for thier money also wat u think im lookin at for insurance in QLD?. cheers guys

	| wat are yu worried about the 1/4 time for? 20V extractors are already good (afaik) pod filter? whatever . cold air intake will be better.
will you be happy?? ummm, i can't tell your future, but i would say that if you are worried about your 1/4 time, adn worried about "wat" cars you can give a run for their money, you will be dissappointed.

if however you want a revvy motor that can be wrung out, and enjoy driving, then you will be happy.

if you want to go fast, then a GTE will maybe be better, but a RWD car will also be a better proposition

	| expect a low to mid 15 second pass. maybe a high 14 if your car is really light and you can get a decent start without bogging down. | |

	| yeh i would love to go the gte but im probly lookin at shitloads on insurance ay? im only 19 this year, im not worried bout the 1/4mile time and wat cars i could give a good run id just like to know where my standards would stand with a 20valve. does any1 know if thier would be a hell of a difference in insurance between a 20valve and a 4agze? what is the top speed of a 20valve and a 4agze cause every1 says in the long run a 20valve will be on top but not on the pick up. also are thier any good mods i could make to a 20valve to make it go harder without making the insurance sky rocket through the roof cheers

	| With the 20V wired so it will rev-cut at the right spot, it will speed cut at 180km/h. So will the GZE if it's wired as it should be from factory. if you cut the VSS input to the ECU's they will both do a lot more than 180, but the 20V will rev-cut in the mid 7K range instead of over 8K.
I have a blacktop 20V in an ae92, and a MAP GZE in an ae92 and IMO the GZE is a lot more fun to drive round day to day.

There's way too many factors that come into insurance costs, so the only way to get a real figure for that is to ring around the insurance companies. There's not a hell of a lot you can do to a 20V to make it go harder without spending a fair amount of money, with the money you spend you could have paid for the insurance on a GZE...
