2tgeu question

hi, i have just got my 2tgeu engine started, however i have found that it seems rather weak, would anyone be able to tell me what timing degrees this engine is, and what speed it is meant to idle at. Also would anyone tell me whether they have the oxy sensor connected, and whether it affects the running of the car, as my engine when it warms up idles for a second or 2 then cuts out, and resumes and cuts out etc. has any one had this problem, and where or what kind of oxy sensor could i use, or are all single wire sensors all the same? pls help

IIRC base timing is 10 degrees on a 2TG...wait for someone to confirm this 100% though. Idle should be around 750rpm.
The O2 sensor not being connected won't be the idle issue when warm - check that your cold start injector or water temp sensor (the green and brown sensors) are wired in correctly...
and yes all single wire o2 sensors (for the most of it) are the same - just get one that suits your application dude (ie: goes in the hole where its meant to be)

750rpm idle seems low. mines around 900rpm, and it has been suggested that it was very good, by an experienced 2TGEU mechanic. What ECU are you using? Mines completely stock, if you want to check out another one in a TA22 mines available in Victoria.
Can't help you with anything else I'm afraid.

i thought 750rpm sounded right, but then again it depends if the motor is worked and such. i would like 750rpm idle myself.

yeh thanks, im gonna have to look into the temp sensors, i assume its running like that cuz its running real rich, so maybe one of the sensors is giving the wrong reading. would any of you guys know whether the oxy sensor is needed on the 2tgeu engine?
yeh the 2tgeu setup is completely stock apart from manifold and no oxy sensor.
would love to check out ur 2tgeu mate to compare it to mine one day, whenever u like to meet up id be more than happy to!
i live 20 mins from the city in the western suburbs tho, opposite directions from u

form the green toyota manual for a 2tg it gives an idle of 1000rpm.
but realy i think that this could be adjusted to personal preferance.
my 2tgeu runs with no oxy sensor.
also teh green bible states 10deg BTD for the timining, but with a pod filter and extractors as my only mods,i run 18^deg BTD with no probs at all.
as already suggested check out you water temp sensors and you cold start.
aslo check you earths etc and you ecu.
my ecu blew out once, basicly leaving the injectors wide open(i was driving on teh freeway when it happend and was accelerating up to 100Kph).i could crank teh engine a few times, unplug teh injectors adn then get it to run for about a minute or so just on teh fuel that was being dumped into teh cylinders...so anyway that was a bit off the track!!
sorry.
cheers,
Dom
