icon5.gif  Anyone know of good cheap exhaust place in Sydney? Tue, 27 January 2004 10:18 Go to next message
Preferably somewhere on Northern Beaches if possible. My corolla has hole in exhaust pipe from cat to muffler. Just want to replace it with stock one. Was going to go out to pick n payless but though might be easier to by new one? I had a go at welding it on the car but failed (rushing..was doing it in uni w/shop and got told what i was doing was dangerous..too close to fuel tank and shouldn't have the car in the lab) and made hole bigger which was originally very small..proceeded to take it off car to allow better access. Can somebody have a look at it, do you think worth patching up as i'm alright at welding and metal work but afraid it will give way at the seam again

http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~benl1981/corolla/exha ust/Exhaust.htm

It's got Toyota written on the pipe..do you think this could be original from 1986..couldnt undo bolts on connection to cat..had to grind them off, was a bitch.

Does anybody know a decent price for this bit of pipe. I assume you use some gasket goo when connecting up the flanges?

Thanks everyone!

I actually gave them a call today - they said they'd have to order one in, though would be quick (thought they would bend it up there...was hoping to fit it tommorrow). I have to go out to pick n payless tommorrow for a boot strut for mums 626 (got quoted 90 bucks for a new one) so i guess i could get exhaust from anywhere out that way...otherwise order from cortis if you think they're decent.

Thanks Stenno

Thanks Nigz. I ended up cutting up some 2 mm thick plate and patching it and welding it up...that's good 4 now anyway but dont know how long will last so maybe need to use that bankstown place. BTW it would be nice to have a hoist at home when grinding of ceased bolts and shit

I'll take some pictures tomorrow. they had to mount the sensors on the new pipe coming off the air filter. The old one was badly split anyway
