AE86 alternator position

Hi guys,
In my 4age ae86 my alternator is mounted underneath the dizzy with the alternator bracket attaching to the head (where one of the bolts used to hold the dizzy tight is)
well anyway that bolt has been snapped into the head so the alternator flops around with hardly any tension on the belt. so im thinking of relocating under the inlet manifold. can this be done with stock brackets? which ones do i need?
thanks

hmm, what 4AGE is it? a RWD one? the alternator on my smallport is already under the inlet manifold. i think the best thing for you to do is remove the bolt and put a new one in, unless it is really hard to get out.
there could be holes on the other side, dunno.

The snapped bolt has a easy out snapped into it which makes it almost impossible to remove.
i believe it is a rwd 4age but i am not sure since the car has been converted

An easyout should be fiarly easy to get out, coz it will only just be gripping, so I would attempt to get that out first, (maybe drill it out, I can't see it being to hard), and then go and buy an expensive one.
There is no point pissing around trying to move the alternator if you can put it back easily.
You said the bolt is going into the head, so thats ali, which shouldnt be too hard. Try again I saw, maybe with the next size easyout

yeah, the problem is you need a really hard tipped drill bit to drill into the easy out.

I'd say so
There may not be enough strength there to hold the forces an alternator at full revs might give.
I still say buy a quality bit, and quality easyout and try again
for the $15odd it will cost, it could save a lot of hassles.
And if it fails, your no worse off.
