In my Exp. Trolley collectors and after school cares are always looking, might need a police check before you go asking at childcare centres.

Mine too. It is all experience, we are doing you a huge favour here, experience isn't easy to come by! You should grasp this oppurtunity to wash and polish our cars, in fact the experience is sooo good, you should pay us to do it!!

Department stores usually don't change staff very often (ie, I always see the same ppl in there everytime I go), and the only time they hire extra is the silly season, and they advertise for that in early September, if not before

However, supermarkets would be good
Don't forget servos too. You can easily get 20+ hrs a week there if you are good at it, and willing to do shit shifts. (tho, I don't think that'll help you ed Razz)

if you're after casual work...

...ever thought about doing the mobile dj thing at private parties on friday/sat nights?

you would need to be available on these nights and have your own car to transport equipment... i worked my way through university doing it Smile

yeah my sister's boyfriend did this too, made shitloads! and from what he tells me, most can't tell the difference between well mixed beats and someone just stopping and starting cds (very clear going by some of the so called 'djs' that play our local nighclub, makes you cringe sometimes at how obvious it is)

yeah??!!?

i do some mixes.. but mostly scratches

it is a hassle transporting all the gear and all since i only have a hatch.. but i guess these days all you need is an amp, speakers and 2 cdplayers and mixer?
i might but interested so ill look in to that. thanks for that and the great music on dyno day!

Hrm, a DJ huh? Well I dare say I would be better at it (with no experience) than some private function DJs I have heard. That actualy sounds like a good idea... hrm.

Re: mixing... most people don't know a good mix from a bad so its not something most mobile djs worry about... especially when your playing retro... mixing is more important for the night club scene

Re: transport... if i can squeeze it in a gt4 you can squeeze it in a hatch (very compact, simple equipment)

Its all about knowing the music and more importantly customer service... if you are dressed well, on time and play what the customer wants then you will do fine

Its easy work where you have fun doing your job... i highly recommend it to anyone looking for casual work

I know partydisc are hiring now for DJs to work in the Sydney area so give them a call or pop them an email (they also have a branch in wollongong and melbourne... not sure of their contact details though)

Smile

xfader,

ever thought of personal care work? (don't know what the requirements are to work in this field in NSW...)

not everyone has the balls for it (actually i reckon the real problem is people aren't willing to try Mad ), but helping people with disabilities is pretty satisfying... it depends on what you want out of a job, i suppose. i did care work for 2+ years, usually 30+ hours per week (plus studying) and it was emotionally draining, but also ridiculously rewarding.

- rates are usually very good, and there is heaps of loading for evenings/weekends, which you can work plenty of
- you get to witness an awesome cross-section of society; you will help all types, you will be thanked repeatedly, and you will learn just how frustrating your life could have been if you weren't such a lucky motherfucker Very Happy
- you will gain people-skills you didn't know you had, from working with people you didn't know existed
- it teaches you composure and presence-of-mind... situations that make your mates nervous/queasy/embarrassed, you will be able to handle whilst standing on your head... and you will make it look easy, too
- if you don't like the people you are working with, you can just tell your boss you want to work with someone else!! Shocked
- you work very closely with, and get to know, a LOT of nurses... i can say no more about this matter Evil or Very Mad
- you get to hear war veterans brag about the chicks they have nailed 'back in the day' the same way you and your mates crap on!!! Laughing
- it looks bloody good on a resume! (i had no idea how significant this would be until later)

i could go on and on, dude, but you're probably hoping i don't... just thought i would offer the suggestion.

Its fun and intresting work.... at a normal security job ull get paid minimum about $24 an hour plus i luv them jobs were im alone in the company car doing rounds around some shitty company....... best thing to do pick up the boys and go 4 a session whilst working.
