Great result! Can't wait to see it on power! You think it'll still peak at 5,500 with your extractors?
What A/F was it tuned for? Was it tuned on a dyno or on the street?
What are all the mini-peaks?

Dunno hey, we'll find out when it goes back
A/F at WOT hasn't been tuned.
It has only been tuned up to 3500 rpm
Done on dyno.
Mini peaks are either where he was backing off slightly to guage whether the car was gonna launch off the dyno, or they could be where the tyres started spinning (happened on the 2nd run)

thats pretty lousy..why wouldnt they do it properly? They didnt tie down my ma70 to begin with either, but they obviosly found it had more power than they imagined...they then went and strapped it down to do my final curve...which was fucked anyway, but meh!

He only had time to tune it to 3500, so it wasn't needed to be strapped down.
And right at the end I asked if he could do a power run, and he reluctantly said yes, and hence, only went to 5000

Bah, I wanted/NEEDED to know what it put out.
I'm even more anxious to find out what it will do after that now.
But that will be a good 3-4 weeks away before its tuned to redline.
He was also curious to see how the AFR was up in that range.

Have you got 1 or both knock sensors wired up? I ended up just using 1 (passenger side).
Was it knocking at all when it revved up that high?

Microtech's can't control knock unfortunately
So I have none hooked up.

Didn't know that. In that case why did he stop at 5k? Should've taken it to 10k!
So how do you tune with a microtech? My brother has one on his 4agze, never thought it could be pinging and no-one know.

I can't think of a how you would tune it up to the most-advance-point without a knock sensor. Or how the engine will go if you drive it on a boiling hot day or with crappy fuel.
Scary.
Maybe just get a knock module with a warning light (and noise) and mount it on your dash somewhere, if it goes off then back off.

Loving ya mate
So I gather there is a fair bit of room under that cover, so not too much to worry about?
Also what is the thing that wants to poke into the firewall on the other side? Cam angle sensor?

Umm, don't have a pic of it at my fingertips....the bit I'm talking about is connected to the other side of the engine at the head I think, tis somewhat round shaped alloy, that extends towards the firewall (worst description ever ).
If you can understand that I'll try and discover a pic!

The manifold is under vacuum
The air will go straight down the open valve.
If the car was under boost however, and the intakes were equally perfect pressure, then it *could* cause issues

Hey, your boost vacuum line on the top of the firewall, can you take out the pipe thats attached above the plate? Just go straight from engine to rubber line, to black line with 30 degree kink, to rubber line, then off ...
Would look neater is all. And better in your bright white bay.

-Microtech LT8s with Bosch igniters
-Custom Extractors
-Twin 1UZ throttle bodies on modified factory inlet
-Custom 3" intakes with factory airboxes at each corner of engine bay
-20v ISCV
-Custom exhaust with twin 2.5" cats and 3" muffler and single 3" resonator
-AU Falcon thermos (meh, saves power when they ain't on )
I'm sure I've forgotten something...go the factory fuel pump! w00t!

Okay.
Time for an update on what I've done with this car lately.
I finally got it to the drags a month or so ago, and it ran a 14.3 @ 97mph.
No where near as quick as I had hoped for.
So I went and got her weighed. Racing weight that night would have been around 1525kg or 3360lbs. A lot heavier than I thought.
So I decided to retire the car from its hoon duties, take off all the performance gear, revert it back to auto and factory ecu, and quiet exhaust.
So I've spent the last 2 weeks in the garage removing all the good stuff, installing the auto, the '91 UZZ31 ECU, and various other things.
So I turned the motor over for the first time with the ecu connected last night. Didn't start first time due to no fuel in the rail, (held key on for about 10secs), but just about fired straight up when I tried again.
I can tell you, with NO exhaust (just log headers), its FUCKING LOUD.
Theres not enough oil in the tranny at the moment, so backing it out of the shed was a bit edgy, but it seemed to drive fine.
Purr'd like a tiger too, stable 1300rpm cold.
Its being towed to the exhaust shop this morning I hope, and I'm hopefully picking it up on saturday.
Will do a vid then.
I also plan to do a 'Members Ride' thingo soon... one day...
